Bills' Skyler Bell: Back to side work Thursday
Bell (lower body) was present for Thursday's practice but was limited to side work, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Bell missed Buffalo's preseason opener last week and still isn't quite yet 100 percent ahead of Saturday's exhibition. The fourth-round rookie should make the Bills' 53-man roster, but him potentially not being able to practice much or play in preseason games would likely hurt his chances for earning a role on game days to begin the regular season.

Bills' Skyler Bell: Working through lower-body injury
Bell did not play in the Bills' 29-14 preseason win over the Panthers on Saturday due to a lower-body injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Head coach Joe Brady relayed to reporters after Saturday's contest that Bell could have played if it was a regular-season game. Bell is expected to be back at practice in the coming week, which puts the rookie fourth-rounder on track to play in the Bills' next exhibition game, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 22 against the Browns. The UConn product is competing against the likes of Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Mecole Hardman for rotational snaps on offense behind DJ Moore (lower body) and Khalil Shakir.

Bills' Skyler Bell: Battling for game-day role
Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic relays that Bell's game-day role will be determined by his performances across the Bills' three preseason games.
Buscaglia notes that Bell is locked in as the Bills' WR5 behind DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer. The Bills could opt to keep Mecole Hardman as a sixth wide receiver and primary punt returner, which would make it more likely that Bell begins the regular season as a healthy scratch without an outstanding effort over Buffalo's three exhibition games. Bell was a fourth-round selection of the Bills in the 2026 NFL Draft following a strong final college season at UConn, when he caught 101 passes for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns across 12 games.

Bills' Skyler Bell: Picked up by Buffalo
The Bills drafted Bell in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 125th overall.
Bell jumped up draft boards as a senior, compiling 101 catches for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns for UConn while leading FBS with seven 100-yard receiving efforts. He sports adequate size at 6-foot, 192 pounds, and he has an above-average ability to get open, but he's struggled with drops throughout his college career, amassing 24 over his four years as a regular contributor. He joins a Buffalo wideout room that has already added talent this offseason by trading for wideout DJ Moore from the Bears, but the club stood pat at wideout in the draft until Bell. Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer (ankle) and Keon Coleman all remain on the roster for Buffalo heading into 2026, so Bell may be hard-pressed to earn regular snaps and will likely be primarily relegated to a special-teams role as a rookie. That said, the Bills' receiving unit hasn't been among the better rooms in recent seasons, so there could be room for him to etch out a role in the future if Bell impresses the coaching staff.
