Carpenter was handed a six-game suspension by the NFL on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Carpenter has been a free agent to this point in 2024 and he'll now be unavailable until late November as a result of his suspension. The linebacker was arrested in December while he was a member of the Steelers' practice squad and the suspension is likely related to that incident.

The 2022 seventh-round pick appeared in 14 games for Green Bay last season, primarily as a special teamer. Packers' Tariq Carpenter: Expected to play ILB in 2023
Carpenter has been practicing as an interior linebacker ahead of the 2023 season, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Head coach Matt LaFleur indicated Tuesday that Carpenter's shift from safety has been underway for a while, saying he's "been working [at linebacker] all offseason". At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, the 24-year-old may be better suited for his new role. Packers' Tariq Carpenter: Week 5 status uncertain
Carpenter (abdomen) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site reports.
Carpenter was a limited participant during each practice session this week with an abdominal injury, leaving his Week 5 availability against the Giants in jeopardy. The rookie seventh-round pick amassed just six special-teams snaps in Sunday's 27-24 overtime victory over the Patriots, but Carpenter and Dallin Leavitt are candidates to see increased action in London this weekend if fellow safety Adrian Amos (concussion) is unable to gain medical clearance.
