Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Staying in Denver for two years
Dobbins (foot) is re-signing with the Broncos, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports. It will be a two-year contract for Dobbins, per Mike Klis of 9 News Denver.
It's no surprise Dobbins has chosen to return to the Broncos considering he expressed his desire to do so at his end-of-season press conference in January, describing himself as "a Bronco," per Luka Evans of the Denver Post. Dobbins has recovered from the foot injury that kept him out after Week 10 of the 2025 regular season. Prior to that point, Dobbins rushed for 772 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He'll likely return to a backfield split with 2025 second-round pick RJ Harvey moving forward.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Season cut short by foot injury
Dobbins (foot) ended the 2025 campaign with 153 carries for 772 yards and four touchdowns, adding 11 receptions (on 14 targets) for 37 yards across 10 regular-season games.
Dobbins ended up leading the Broncos in rushing yards despite missing the final seven games of the regular season. The 27-year-old running back had a strong start to his sixth season, as he handled the majority of touches out of the backfield ahead of rookie RJ Harvey, Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin. A foot injury suffered Week 10 required surgery, forcing him to miss the remainder of the campaign. Though Dobbins proved to be a good signing when he was on the field, his issues with durability remain a concern. The veteran resumed practicing in a limited fashion ahead of Denver's AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots, but he was ultimately not quite ready to play. It appears he's on the right track in his recovery, boding well for his ability to be ready for next season. However, where he'll be playing remains a mystery, as Dobbins will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal with the Broncos last June. If the Ohio State product returns to Denver, he'd likely split time with Harvey, whose development after Dobbins went down should earn him consistent playing time in his sophomore season. When he's healthy, Dobbins figures to draw attention from several running back-needy teams around the league.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Won't play Sunday
Dobbins (foot) won't play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.
Dobbins, who last saw game action in Week 10 when he sustained a foot injury that required surgery, has been able to practice in a limited fashion this week, but he's not quite ready to return to action. In his continued absence, RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie will handle the Broncos' RB duties this weekend. Dobbins' next chance to suit up would occur in the event that Denver advances to Super Bowl LX, which will take place Feb. 8.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Another limited session
Dobbins (foot) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Since Denver designated Dobbins to return from injured reserve Monday, he's put together back-to-back capped sessions as he seeks his first game action since Week 10, when he sustained a foot injury that required surgery. Friday's practice report will be telling for his odds to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, especially if he's listed as questionable. If that occurs, the Broncos would need to activate him from IR by Saturday afternoon in order for him to have a chance to rejoin RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie in the backfield this weekend.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Officially limited Wednesday
Dobbins (foot) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
The Broncos designated Dobbins to return from injured reserve Monday, and now that he's back on the practice field, he at least has a chance to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots. Perhaps Super Bowl LX is a more realistic opportunity for Dobbins to suit up again, assuming the Broncos win this weekend, but his status will continue to be monitored as the week goes on to get a sense of his odds to to return for the first contest. Currently, RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie are the healthy backfield options for Denver.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Practice window to open
The Broncos are expected to designate Dobbins (foot) for return from IR in preparation for the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots on Sunday, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
Dobbins may not officially take the practice field until Wednesday, but it appears the veteran running back has a legitimate chance to be cleared for a return to action in time for Sunday's playoff matchup. He was spotted working on a side field last Wednesday, which was his first on-field work of any kind since he suffered a left Lisfranc injury Week 10. Of course, Dobbins may have to prove he's capable of handling full practice reps before being cleared to return to the lineup. If Dobbins does manage to get back on the field in time to face New England, he'll rejoin RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie in a rushing attack that figures to be increasingly featured with Bo Nix (ankle) having suffered a season-ending injury in the divisional round, leaving Jarrett Stidham to start this weekend.

Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Has practice window opened
The Broncos designated Dobbins (foot) to return from injured reserve Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Dobbins suffered a foot injury Week 10 against the Raiders that required surgery and a stint on IR, from which he missed the final seven games of the regular season and also Saturday's divisional-round win against the Bills. On Nov. 26, coach Sean Payton told Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post that Dobbins may be able to return later in the campaign, and now that his 21-day practice window has opened, he has a chance to return for either or both of the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots or Super Bowl LX if Denver advances that far. The team will submit its next practice report Wednesday, at which point his base line activity level will become known in advance of the first contest. If Dobbins isn't able to return this weekend, a combination of RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie will continue to man the Broncos backfield.
