Browns' Sal Cannella: Stays with Browns
The Browns signed Cannella to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Cannella was elevated for both of Cleveland's final two games of the season as additional help at tight end, where he played 35 total snaps (29 offensive and six on special teams), catching two passes for 11 yards on five targets. The 29-year-old will participate in the Browns' offseason activities and attempt to earn a spot on their active roster next season.

Cannella could see the field for the second game in a row after being elevated from the practice squad in back-to-back weeks. Cannella was elevated from the practice squad for the game and unexpectedly led the team's tight ends in targets. That's partially due to Harold Fannin (groin) being removed after just 12 snaps. It's notable that Cannella was the preferred target over the already rostered Blake Whiteheart and Brenden Bates. If the Browns opt to shelve Fannin for the regular-season finale against the Bengals, Cannella could serve as the primary receiving option at tight end.

Cannella will be signing with Tampa Bay, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Cannella has yet to play an NFL snap since ending his college career in 2019, but he's had some success in the XFL/UFL, most notably leading the UFL with six receiving touchdowns while racking up 496 receiving yards (fifth-most in the league) on 53 receptions (third-most) with Arlington this spring. Cannella will look to earn a roster spot among a Tampa Bay TE corps that is headed by Cade Otton, who played over 90 percent of the team's offensive snaps last season.

Cannella signed with the Packers in July after being named to the All-USFL team during his stint with the New Orleans Breakers earlier this year. The tight end caught all three of his targets for 31 yards across the final two preseason games, but he finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline.

Packers' Sal Cannella: Joining Green Bay
Cannella signed a contract with the Packers on Thursday.
Cannella was one of four free agents that worked out for Green Bay earlier this week. The 25-year-old tight end was selected as a member of the All-USFL team during his time with the New Orleans Breakers earlier this year, catching 34 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns. Cannella will fill out the final spot on the Packers' 90-man roster heading into the start of training camp next week.
