Saints' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Up from practice squad
The Saints elevated Edwards-Helaire from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday in advance of Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
With Kendre Miller (concussion) out and Alvin Kamara (groin) doubtful for Week 18 action, Edwards-Helaire will be among the RB options for the Saints on Sunday along with Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims. In Week 17 against the Raiders, Kamara also was sidelined, Miller sustained his head injury, and Mims was a healthy scratch, which left Edwards-Helaire (26 of 60 snaps) and Williams (25 of 60) to split work. Having said that, Edwards turned his seven touches into 30 yards from scrimmage, while Williams managed 24 total yards on three touches.

Saints' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Will be active Week 18
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Friday that Edwards-Helaire will be active Sunday against the Buccaneers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Edwards-Helaire will officially be elevated from the practice squad prior to Sunday's regular-season finale. He led all Saints running backs with five rushing attempts in the Week 17 loss to the Raiders, and Edwards-Helaire could work ahead of Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims in a backfield that will definitely be without Kendre Miller (concussion) and is unlikely to feature Alvin Kamara (groin), who is listed as doubtful.

Saints' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Heads back to practice squad
Edwards-Helaire reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
With Alvin Kamara (groin) sidelined for a second straight game Sunday against the Raiders, Kendre Miller got the start, but Edwards-Helaire received the first touch among Saints running backs. Miller's exit in the second quarter due to a concussion allowed Edwards-Helaire to earn the most snaps (26) and touches (seven for 30 yards from scrimmage) in the position group, while Jamaal Williams played 25 snaps and handled three touches for 24 total yards. It's unknown if Kamara or Miller will gain clearance to suit up in Week 18 at Tampa Bay, so Edwards-Helaire and Williams may split the backfield reps.

Edwards-Helaire has yet to play in a game this season. After starting the season on the reserve/non-football illness list, Edwards-Helaire has been a healthy inactive each of the last nine contests. The No. 32 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, Edwards-Helaire appeared in 48 games over his five seasons with the Chiefs, amassing a 441-1,845-12 rushing line and a 89-765-7 receiving line on 122 targets. Still just 25 years old, Edwards-Helaire will have a chance to catch on elsewhere for the remainder of the 2024 season.
