Vogel joins Colby Wadman as the second punter on the team's roster, which signals a competition is brewing. Wadman figures to be the favorite, as he punted in 12 games for the Broncos during his rookie campaign in 2018. However, Vogel's presence indicates Denver does not want him getting complacent, so the journeyman punter could potentially get an opportunity to make an impression.

Justin Vogel: Dumped by 49ers
Vogel was waived by San Francisco on Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Vogel signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in March, but his departure comes as little surprise after the team drafted Mitch Wishnowsky in the fourth round Saturday. The 25-year-old remained a free agent last season after averaging 44.4 yards on 71 punt attempts with the Packers in 2017.

The Browns claimed Vogel off waivers Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
Vogel's rookie season with the Packers was solid, as he finished the campaign averaging 44.4 yards per punt. However, Green Bay opted to select a punter in the 2018 draft, which led him to request his release. He'll now head to Cleveland after being claimed Monday and will have to battle Britton Colquitt for rights to the starting punter job.

Vogel is coming off a stellar 2017 season with the Packers where he set the franchise record for net punting average. However, Green Bay elected to draft JK Scott -- who was widely considered the best punter in his class -- in the fifth round of this year's draft, which made Vogel expendable. Vogel will now be subject to the league's waiver system, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's ultimately claimed by another organization.
