Allen (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Bears on Saturday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
The other 31 teams will now have an opportunity to claim Allen off waivers. If he ultimately goes unclaimed, the linebacker will revert to the Bears' injured reserve.

Miami placed Allen on injured reserve Wednesday due to an undisclosed issue.
Allen was sidelined in Week 4 with a foot injury, but it's unclear if the problem he's currently dealing with is related. In any case, Allen's move to IR means that he'll be sidelined for at least eight weeks, making it likely his season is over. The team opened a roster spot with the move, adding safety Maurice Smith to the 53-man unit in Allen's place.

Allen's lack of availability comes as no surprise, considering that he has not participated in practice since suffering a foot injury during Miami's Week 3 win over the Raiders. As long as Allen remains sidelined, expect Stephone Anthony to receive increased rotational snaps.

Allen plays mainly in special teams scenarios, compiling just four tackles (three solo) in his last six contests. The undrafted rookie will hand over his reserve duties to Stephone Anthony for the time being, as the Dolphins only have four healthy linebackers remaining.

Dolphins' Chase Allen: Gets start in Lawrence Timmons' absence
Allen will start at linebacker Sunday against the Chargers due to Lawrence Timmons (coach's decision) being listed as inactive, Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
The undrafted rookie will make his NFL debut at strongside linebacker Sunday. There is a serious lack of depth in the Dolphins' linebacker corps, but if Allen doesn't perform well, Justin March-Lillard is the only other option to fill in. It'll be interesting to see how Miami's defense fares since it only has one truly experienced, active linebacker in Kiko Alonso.
