Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Won't play Saturday
Palmer (foot) has been ruled out for Saturday's wild-card round game against the Texans.
Palmer, who was unable to practice this week, thus will target a potential return to action in the divisional round of the playoffs, should the Chargers advance. In Palmer's absence, wideouts DJ Chark and Derius Davis are candidates to see added snaps alongside Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston (thigh/illness), provided Johnston is available after being deemed questionable for Saturday's contest.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Still not practicing
Palmer (foot) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Palmer was listed as a non-participant Tuesday as well, so what the wideout is able to do Thursday will be critical in determining his chances of playing in Saturday's playoff opener against the Texans. If Palmer -- who was inactive for the Chargers' Week 18 win over the Raiders -- remains out this weekend, DJ Chark and Derius Davis would be in line to see added snaps alongside fellow wideouts Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston (thigh/illness).

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Set to miss practice
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Palmer (foot) isn't in line to practice Tuesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
After exiting the Chargers' Week 17 win over the Patriots with a foot injury, Palmer didn't practice in any fashion last week before sitting out a 34-20 win over the Raiders in the regular-season finale, and he's yet to take any tangible steps forward in his recovery as the Chargers begin prepping for Saturday's wild-card game in Houston. In Palmer's absence in Week 18, DJ Chark stepped in as the Chargers' No. 3 wideout and finished with a six-yard touchdown reception across three targets.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Ruled out for Sunday
Palmer (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's regular season finale against the Raiders.
Palmer didn't practice this week and will target a potential return to action in next weekend's playoff opener against an opponent to be determined. In his absence Sunday, DJ Chark and Derius Davis are candidates to log added snaps behind top wideout options Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Sidelined for practice again
Palmer (foot) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice.
Palmer has been a spectator for both of the Chargers' first two Week 18 practices, so he'll likely need to take part in Friday's session in some fashion in order to avoid a designation for Sunday's regular-season finale in Las Vegas. If Palmer is sidelined for Week 18, DJ Chark and Derius Davis could both be in store for expanded roles at receiver.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Not practicing
Palmer (heel) didn't practice Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Palmer left Saturday's 40-7 win over New England in the third quarter and was spotted in a walking boot after the game. It's not yet clear how aggressive the Chargers will or won't be this Sunday against the Raiders; they know they'll be either the fifth or sixth seed in the AFC, with hope for moving up to fifth if Pittsburgh loses to Cincinnati on Saturday. It's unclear, in any case, if Palmer will be healthy enough to play this weekend.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Needs walking boot
Palmer (heel) was donning a walking boot in the locker room following Saturday's 40-7 win at New England, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
The Chargers may just be exercising caution with Palmer after he was forced out of Week 17 action late in the third quarter. He finished Saturday's game with four catches (on six targets) for 41 yards, which marked the third time in the last four contests that he surpassed 40 yards.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Picks up heel injury
Palmer exited Saturday's game at New England due to a heel injury.
At the time he was deemed questionable to return in the third quarter Saturday, Palmer had hauled in four of six targets for 41 yards. As long as Palmer is sidelined, DJ Chark and Derius Davis will be the tertiary options at wide receiver for the Chargers behind Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Scores on conversion pass in win
Palmer secured three of six targets for 41 yards and caught a two-point conversion pass in the Chargers' 34-27 win over the Broncos on Thursday night.
The veteran wideout was second to Ladd McConkey in both receptions and receiving yards while tying for the team lead in targets. Palmer's two-point conversion grab also was important, as it gave the Chargers a three-point lead early in the fourth quarter following a Derius Davis' go-ahead 19-yard touchdown grab. Palmer remains a clear complementary option in Los Angeles' passing attack and has yet to surpass 78 receiving yards in any game, but he could see some additional opportunities in a Week 17 road clash against the Patriots on Saturday, Dec. 28 if New England's standout cornerback Christian Gonzalez spends the majority of his time on McConkey.

Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Minimal production in loss
Palmer caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers.
After serving as the Chargers' top target in Week 14, Palmer reverted back to his smaller role with the return of rookie receiver Ladd McConkey. The veteran played 75 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps, but he was unable to produce much with his few opportunities. Despite a solid share in playing time, Palmer is unlikely to be a trustworthy option for fantasy purposes in the fantasy playoffs. Los Angeles will host the Broncos in Week 16.
