  • Charlie Jones: Catches on with New York's practice squad

The Giants signed Jones to the practice squad Tuesday.

The Bengals waived Jones during Sunday's cutdown day. The wide receiver cleared waivers and will now move over to the Giants to begin the regular season. Jones competed to be the Bengals' primary return specialist but lost out on the job to Ke'Shawn Williams and Samaje Perine. The 27-year-old Jones will now provide additional depth to the Giants from the practice squad.

  • Charlie Jones: Let go by Bengals

The Bengals waived Jones on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reports.

Jones was competing to serve as the team's primary return specialist but ended up losing out on the role. The 2023 fourth-round pick failed to haul in his only target across 14 games with Cincinnati last season but managed to amass 1,084 kick-return yards and returned one kickoff for a touchdown. He will now look to catch on with another team.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Getting in reps at training camp

Jones (ankle) is participating at the Bengals' training camp, Sam Greene and Jacob Sebastian of The Cincinnati Enquirer report.

Jones sat out the last three games of last season because of an ankle injury, but that doesn't seem to be bothering him anymore with training camp now underway. He'll compete to hold onto his role as a primary return specialist in 2026.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Out for Sunday

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Browns, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

The third-year wideout from Purdue didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday and is now in line to miss his third consecutive game due to an ankle injury. Jones appeared in 14 contests for Cincinnati this season, recording 1,084 kick-return yards and 115 punt-return yards. While he's sidelined in Week 18, expect Ke'Shawn Williams to operate as the Bengals' top return man.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Still dealing with ankle issue

Jones (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Jones sustained an ankle injury in Week 15 against the Ravens, which has prevented him from playing in each of the Bengals' last two games. He's also been unable to practice, so he would likely have to log at least a limited session over the next two days to have a realistic chance of playing against the Browns in Sunday's regular-season finale.

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Jones is now in line to miss his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury sustained in the Week 15 loss to the Ravens. • Bengals' Charlie Jones: DNP with ankle

Jones (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.

Jones missed last Sunday's win over the Dolphins with the ankle injury he suffered in Week 15 against the Ravens. The returner's inability to practice to start the week is a poor sign for his chances to suit up for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Jones will have two more opportunities to increase his practice participation and dodge an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game. If Jones misses consecutive games, Ke'Shawn Williams will likely continue to be the Bengals' starting kick and punt returner.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Ruled out with injured ankle

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Jones left last Sunday's game against the Ravens with an ankle injury and was unable to log any practice participation in Week 16. The kick and punt returner's absence will give Ke'Shawn Williams a chance to shine as the lead returner in both roles, with Samaje Perine likely to take over Williams' position as the secondary kick returner.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Jones (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Jones was knocked out of Sunday's game versus the Ravens in the second quarter by an ankle injury, and now his status for Week 16 is up in the air. He'll likely need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have an opportunity to suit up Sunday at Miami.

  • Bengals' Charlie Jones: Won't return to Week 15 game

Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against Baltimore.

Jones was injured near the end of the second quarter and was deemed questionable after spending time in the medical tent. He was then ruled out after halftime. Jones didn't get any targets on offense, returned one kickoff for 20 yards and returned one punt for minus-two yards. It remains to be seen who the Bengals will turn to on punt returns moving forward, but Tahj Brooks figures to take over on kick returns.
