  • KhaDarel Hodge: Reverts to practice squad

Hodge reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Hodge played just one offensive snap in Thursday's 27-7 victory over the Rams in Melbourne, Australia. The wide receiver played 12 more snaps on special teams, where he recorded two tackles on kick coverage. The 31-year-old veteran player will likely see more action throughout the season as a special teams option for the 49ers.

  • 49ers' KhaDarel Hodge: Bumps up from practice squad

The 49ers elevated Hodge from the practice squad to the active roster for the team's Week 1 game against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

Hodge was released by the Falcons at the start of free agency in March and didn't garner any interest until he had a tryout with the Bills in late July. He eventually joined an injury-ravaged 49ers receiving corps on Aug. 5 but didn't survive roster cuts before being signed to San Francisco's practice squad. It's unclear if any of the other six wide receivers on the active roster will be healthy scratches, but even if he's available for the season opener, he likely wouldn't be in line for many offensive snaps with all of Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson ahead of Hodge in the WR pecking order.

  • KhaDarel Hodge: Signs with San Francisco's practice squad

The 49ers signed Hodge to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

The 49ers released Hodge on Sunday after signing the wide receiver in early August. The 31-year-old quickly accepted the team's practice squad invitation and will continue to provide veteran depth to the organization through the start of the regular season. Hodge participated in all three preseason games, catching seven passes for 71 yards.

  • 49ers' KhaDarel Hodge: Signs with San Francisco

The 49ers signed Hodge to a contract Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Hodge had a tryout with the Bills last Thursday, but the wide receiver will ultimately end up in California. The 31-year-old joins the 49ers amidst a near-unprecedented string of injuries. In the wide receiver room alone, Mike Evans (quadriceps), Christian Kirk (calf), De'Zhaun Stribling (hamstring), Jacob Cowing (hip) and Ricky Pearsall (knee) have already sustained injuries of varying severity. The mass loss of players means Hodge will be filling in for meaningful reps as the team continues its training activities.

  • KhaDarel Hodge: Tries out in Buffalo

Hodge tried out for the Bills on Thursday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo Newsreports.

Hodge was released by the Falcons in March with a shoulder injury. The veteran receiver has served as a depth wideout and special-teams asset throughout his eight-year career, and he'd profile for the same role if he does land another NFL opportunity.

  • KhaDarel Hodge: Released by Falcons

Hodge (shoulder) was released by the Falcons with a failed physical designation Monday, Will McFadden and Tori McElhaney of the team's official site report.

Hodge was informed in February that he will be released, and Monday's move makes it official. The 31-year-old wide receiver hasn't finished any of his eight regular seasons with more than 232 receiving yards, but Hodge should garner interest in the free-agent market due to his ability on special teams, for which he made the Pro Bowl in 2024.

  • KhaDarel Hodge: Moving on from Atlanta

The Falcons informed Hodge (shoulder) on Wednesday that he will be released, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.

Hodge finished the 2025 season on injured reserve while recovering from a shoulder injury, but assuming that doesn't linger into the start of the upcoming campaign, the 31-year-old should be able to catch on elsewhere as a depth wideout/special teamer. Over his 12 appearances this past season, Hodge caught three of his 10 targets for 31 yards and recorded nine tackles on special teams.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Moved to IR

The Falcons moved Hodge (shoulder) to injured reserve Friday, Tori McElhaney of the team's official site reports.

Hodge was ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals and was promptly moved to IR. This move will end the wide receiver's season, as the mandatory four-week reserve period will extend through Week 18. Hodge finishes the season with three receptions for 31 yards on 10 targets through 12 games. In a corresponding move, the Falcons signed safety Jammie Robinson to stabilize an injured defensive back room.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Ruled out for Sunday

Hodge (shoulder) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Hodge played through the issue with his shoulder in the Falcons' Week 15 win over the Buccaneers, but the wide receiver's inability to practice this week implies he suffered a major setback. The depth receiver's absence will likely not shake up the Falcons' offensive target share too much, though Jamal Agnew may see more offensive snaps.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Still nursing shoulder injury

Hodge (shoulder) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Hodge played through the issue with his shoulder in Week 15 at Tampa Bay, so it's possible he and the team are just playing things safe. He'll have two more chances to practice before Atlanta releases its final practice report of the week Friday.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Ready to rock

Hodge (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Buccaneers, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Hodge began Week 15 preparations as a limited participant at practice but upgraded to full reps Wednesday. The depth wide receiver didn't handle any offensive snaps during Atlanta's loss to Seattle in Week 14, though he did play 23 snaps on special teams. Prior to that, Hodge was a healthy scratch Week 13.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Deemed limited again Tuesday

Hodge (shoulder) was estimated as a limited practice participant in Tuesday's walkthrough.

Hodge has been estimated as limited at each of the Falcons' two walkthroughs so far this week as he deals with a shoulder issue. The depth wideout didn't log any offensive snaps Sunday against Seattle but did play 23 snaps on special teams. If Hodge can't suit up Thursday in Tampa Bay, it would primarily effect that latter unit.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Considered limited Monday

Hodge (shoulder) was considered a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official website reports.

Hodge is dealing with an apparent shoulder injury to open the week, and although the team didn't practice Monday, it was significant enough to include him on the injury report. The wide receiver will have two more opportunities to up his participation at practice before Thursday night's matchup with the Buccaneers.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Healthy scratch for Week 13

Hodge (coach's decision) is a healthy inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Though top wideout Drake London (knee) will miss a second straight game, Hodge won't be among Atlanta's five active receivers for Week 13. Hodge had suited up for each of the Falcons' last seven games but held a minimal role on offense, playing single-digit snaps in six of those contests while accruing a 3-31-0 receiving line on nine targets.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Not targeted in Week 12

Hodge failed to record a single target in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Saints.

Hodge was a nonfactor against the Saints, and the wideout has now been held without a catch in all but one game this season. The 31-year-old played just five of the Falcons' 56 offensive snaps Sunday, the fewest of any wide receiver who saw action on offense. Hodge remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 13 road matchup against the Jets.

  • Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Records three catches

Hodge caught three of eight targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Dolphins.

Hodge's eight targets were the second most of any Falcons pass catcher Sunday. The veteran wideout played 66 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps, by far his largest snap share of the 2025 campaign. This uptick in playing time came on a day when No. 1 receiver Drake London was sidelined due to a hip injury. Despite the increased usage and season-high eight targets, Hodge and the entire Falcons offense struggled to get much going. The 31-year-old should not be trusted for fantasy purposes, even if London were to miss more time. The Falcons visit the Patriots in Week 9.
