Texans' Brevin Jordan: Nursing minor injury
Jordan was held out of Friday's training-camp practice due to a minor, undisclosed injury, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The nature of Jordan's injury hasn't been announced by the Texans, but it could be related to the torn patellar tendon injury that he sustained during training camp in August of 2025. The decision to keep him out of Friday's practice was a precautionary measure and should not impact his availability ahead of the Texans' preseason opener against the Chargers this Thursday.

Jordan (knee) and the Texans agreed on a one-year contract extension Monday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Jordan has been sidelined for the entirety of the regular season after suffering a significant knee injury at practice in August, but he will now stick around Houston for another year. The tight end caught 17 passes for a career-high 219 yards while scoring two touchdowns in his last healthy campaign in 2023, and he'll look to get back on track in 2026.

For a second consecutive week, there wasn't much happening for Jordan, who has just three targets (two catches) for seven yards thus far. The tight end group is seeing fewer targets overall than in 2023. Houston's tight ends accounted for nearly 21 percent of the team's targets last season compared to 15 percent through the first two weeks of 2024.

Jordan was allotted a healthy 40 snaps in the season opener, which matches his snap count for the first five games of 2023. There are too many preferred targets ahead of him, including starting tight end Dalton Schultz, for Jordan's increased run to make a difference at this time. It does, however, indicate a certain level of confidence from the coaching staff.
