  • Kalon Barnes: Works out with Chicago

Barnes (undisclosed) worked out with the Bears on Monday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Barnes was cut after reaching an injury settlement with the Steelers in August of 2024, but he's now healthy ahead of the 2025 campaign. The cornerback appeared in two games with the Vikings in 2022, failing to record any stats while playing nine snaps on special teams. He hasn't appeared in any contests since then.

  • Kalon Barnes: Waived by Pittsburgh

Barnes (undisclosed), who had been on injured reserve reached an injury settlement with the Steelers on Monday.

Barnes is thus free to sign elsewhere after reaching the settlement. The 2022 seventh-round pick will now look to get healthy and find a new opportunity elsewhere.

  • Steelers' Kalon Barnes: Moves to IR

Barnes (undisclosed) reverted to Pittsburgh's injured reserve Tuesday after going unclaimed off waivers, per the NFL transaction log.

Barnes was waived/injured by the Steelers on Monday with an unspecified injury. He registered three tackles and one pass defended in Friday's preseason game against the Texans. Barnes will be forced to sit out for the 2024 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Pittsburgh.

  • Kalon Barnes: Let go by Pittsburgh

The Steelers waived/injured Barnes (undisclosed) on Monday.

Barnes played 42 snaps (33 on defense, nine on special teams) in Friday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Texans, finishing the contest with three tackles and one pass defended. It's unclear when Barnes sustained the injury, but he will revert to the Steelers' injured reserve should he clear waivers. If that were to happen, the 2022 seventh-rounder would be forced to sit out for the entire 2024 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Pittsburgh.

  • Panthers' Kalon Barnes: Lands in Carolina

The Panthers selected Barnes in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 242nd overall.

Barnes ran the fastest 40 at the combine this year with a 4.23, which puts him near the top in terms of speed in the history of the event. His production at Baylor didn't quite match the elite athleticism he displayed, so there's still some development needed for him to be an impact player in the NFL. Still, an athlete like Barnes is a worthwhile longshot bet in the seventh round.
