  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Picked off four times in shutout

Brosmer completed 19 of 30 pass attempts for 126 yards and four interceptions while losing one yard on his only carry in Sunday's 26-0 loss to Seattle. The undrafted rookie got the nod under center for the Vikings with both J.J. McCarthy (concussion) and Carson Wentz (shoulder) sidelined for a brutal road matchup against the Seahawks. Brosmer played like a third-string quarterback by committing four turnovers, the first of which was returned for a touchdown in the second quarter. The 24-year-old struggled to develop chemistry with superstar WR Justin Jefferson, completing just two passes for four yards on four looks to his top target. Brosmer did little in Sunday's shutout to generate a potential quarterback controversy once McCarthy is cleared for action. If the latter clears the league's concussion protocol ahead of next Sunday's tilt versus Washington, then Brosmer will surely be sent back to the bench.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Will start against Seattle

Brosmer will start Sunday's game against the Seahawks after J.J. McCarthy (concussion) was ruled out Friday, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. With Carson Wentz (shoulder) on injured reserve, Brosmer is the next man up under center for Minnesota. The 24-year-old rookie signed with the Vikings after he wasn't drafted out of Minnesota. Brosmer has attempted eight regular-season passes this season, completing five for 42 scoreless yards. During the preseason, Brosmer completed 60 percent of his 58 pass attempts for 364 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Seattle defense is a better one-for-one fantasy bet than Brosmer.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Week 13 Waiver Priority List

Brosmer could start for the Vikings in Week 13 at Seattle with J.J. McCarthy (concussion) hurt. It's a brutal matchup against the Seahawks, and we don't know how Brosmer will perform, if he starts at all. But if Brosmer does start and happens to play well, maybe the Vikings will stick with him over the struggling McCarthy. Minnesota also has an amazing schedule to close the season with Washington in Week 14, Dallas in Week 15, the Giants in Week 16 and Detroit in Week 17. Brosmer could be a nice surprise and is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAB in one-quarterback leagues. In Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, Brosmer is worth adding for 5-10 percent.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: May draw Week 13 start

Brosmer will take first-team reps at practice to open Week 13 prep with J.J. McCarthy having been placed in the concussion protocol, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Brosmer will be in a position to start on the road against Seattle on Sunday if McCarthy is not able to fully clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in time to play this weekend. In that scenario, John Wolford would stand to be elevated from the practice squad to operate as Brosmer's backup. The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota has logged four regular-season appearances so far, in which span he's completed five of eight pass attempts for 42 yards.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Set for QB2 duties rest of season

Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Tuesday that Brosmer will be the Vikings' backup quarterback behind J.J. McCarthy (ankle) for the rest of the 2025 season in the absence of Carson Wentz (shoulder), Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. Brosmer was initially expected to revert to the emergency third quarterback role once McCarthy was fully recovered from his ankle injury. However, with Wentz set to undergo season-ending surgery to address his left shoulder injury, Brosmer is slated to serve as the Vikings' backup for the rest of the season. Brosmer has been the Vikings' QB2 since Week 3 and has appeared in three games, completing 5 of 8 passes for 42 yards over that span.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Set for backup duties Week 3

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Brosmer will operate as the No. 2 quarterback behind Carson Wentz during Sunday's game against the Bengals, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. Brosmer spent the first two weeks of the regular season handling emergency No. 3 quarterback duties, but with J.J. McCarthy (ankle) now likely out at least two weeks, he's set for a temporary promotion behind Wentz. Meanwhile, new roster addition Desmond Ridder will work as the No. 3 quarterback versus Cincinnati on Sunday.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Available as emergency quarterback

Brosmer (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday night's game against the Falcons but is available as the emergency third-string quarerback, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports. As the emergency third quarterback, Brosmer will be permitted to see the field only if both J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz are taken out due to injury, illness or ejection. Brosmer played in all three of the Vikings' preseason games, completing 60.3 percent of his passes for 364 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while adding four carries for seven yards.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Pads stats late in preseason start

Brosmer completed 15 of 23 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Friday's 23-13 preseason loss to the Titans. He added two rushes for five yards. Brosmer started the game with both J.J. McCarthy and Sam Howell resting and led two drives before giving way to Brett Rypien. However, Rypien was checked for a concussion after taking a hard hit, ultimately allowing Brosmer to get extended run. Brosmer was able to pad his stats with the added opportunity thanks to a few big plays to start the third quarter, when he connected with Dontae Fleming and Bryson Nesbit for 36 and 21 yard gains, respectively -- the latter of which went for a touchdown. Brosmer was impressive during his first preseason in the NFL, and he looks likely to open the regular season as Minnesota's third quarterback.

  • Vikings' Max Brosmer: Leads TD drive in preseason debut

Brosmer was 5-of-8 passing for 47 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over Houston. Brosmer entered the game in the fourth quarter and outplayed Brett Rypien in the battle for the No. 3 QB role. It seems unlikely the Vikings will keep three quarterbacks on the roster, making Brosmer, an undrafted free agent from Minnesota, a more likely candidate for the practice squad.
