The 25-year-old spent the vast majority of the 2025 season on the Vikings' practice squad after he injured his knee in Week 2 against Atlanta. Minnesota cut Murphy earlier this week. He's appeared in three career regular-season games.

Murphy was a full practice participant all of last week, but he was not activated off injured reserve before the Vikings' Week 12 overtime win over the Bears. Now that he's off IR, Murphy is slated to make his NFL regular-season debut against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Murphy spent training camp with the Vikings after going undrafted out of UCLA and was placed on IR on Aug. 27. He'll now have a 21-day window to practice with the team, before needing to be placed on the active roster.
