The Cowboys placed Thompson (hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Thompson sustained the injury in Sunday's loss to the Ravens and will now miss at least the next four contests. Markquese Bell filled in alongside rookie Caleb Downs at safety following Thompson's departure.

Cowboys' Jalen Thompson: Out multiple weeks
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Monday that Thompson (hamstring) is expected to miss four-plus weeks, Patrik Walker of the team's official site reports.
Thompson looks like a candidate for injured reserve after he went down with a hamstring injury in the second quarter of Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Ravens in Rio de Janeiro. The loss of Thompson is yet another hit to the Cowboys' safety group, as Malik Hooker (forearm) has missed the last two games, and P.J. Locke (foot) was moved to IR on Saturday. Before sustaining the injury, Thompson had played every defensive snap through the Cowboys' first nine-plus quarters of the season, logging 17 tackles in the process.

Thompson (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against Baltimore, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Thompson (hip) was cleared to participate in Saturday's training camp practice, Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Thompson sat out of practice this past week while recovering from a hip injury, but he was given the green light to return for Saturday's practice. He was a fifth-round selection of the Cardinals in the 2019 NFL Draft and spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with Arizona before signing a three-year deal with the Cowboys in March. Thompson figures to start alongside Malik Hooker at safety this season, with P.J. Locke (knee) and Markquese Bell providing depth at the position.
