Packers' Luke Musgrave: Expected to play in 2026
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday that he's "really hopeful" Musgrave (neck) will be able to play at some point during the 2026 season, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Green Bay placed Musgrave on the PUP list Sunday, ensuring that he'll miss at least the first four contests of the campaign. Musgrave is far from a lock to be activated when first eligible to play Week 5, as he was unable to practice at any point in training camp or the preseason after injuring his neck during June minicamp. Perhaps in part due to Musgrave's hazy return timeline in addition to the thin depth behind top tight end Tucker Kraft (knee), the Packers signed veteran Jonnu Smith to a one-year deal last week to bolster the position group.

Packers' Luke Musgrave: Moved to reserve/PUP list
Musgrave (neck) was moved to the reserve/PUP list Sunday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.
Musgrave missed the entirety of the preseason while on the active/PUP list with a neck injury that he suffered during OTAs in June. The oft-injured tight end will now be forced to miss at least four contests to open the regular season. In his absence, newly acquired veteran Jonnu Smith will likely operate as the primary backup behind starting tight end Tucker Kraft (knee).

Packers' Luke Musgrave: Injury severity being determined
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday that Musgrave was placed on the active/PUP list due to a neck injury and that the team is working to diagnose whether the tight end is facing a long-term issue, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Gutekunst said that Green Bay's policy is to always be cautious with neck injuries. If Musgrave is able to return to the practice field in short order, he may be able to benefit from increased reps while Tucker Kraft (ACL), who is also on the active/PUP list, progresses in his own recovery. That said, Kraft still appears to have a chance to be on the field in Week 1, potentially relegating Musgrave to his usual depth role in any case. Musgrave appears to have sustained his neck injury during OTAs in June.

The tight end is still dealing with an undisclosed injury that he suffered during OTAs in June. Musgrave sustained an undisclosed injury during the Packers' practice Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Head coach Matt LaFleur wouldn't disclose Musgrave's injury, but the tight end was spotted on a treadmill in the rehab area during Wednesday's practice. Despite Tucker Kraft (knee) missing Green Bay's final nine regular-season games in 2025, Musgrave remained a minimal part of the offense, catching just 24 of 31 targets for 252 yards over 17 regular-season games. Once he returns to full health, he'll likely battle for one of the Packers' reserve TE spots.

Packers' Luke Musgrave: Quiet end to regular season
Musgrave played just two offensive snaps and was not targeted during Green Bay's regular-season finale against the Vikings.
Musgrave has operated as Green Bay's top tight end since Tucker Kraft (ACL) suffered a season-ending injury Week 9. His receiving production has been underwhelming, however, and despite suiting up for all 17 regular-season games, Musgrave has totaled just 24 catches for 252 yards (on 31 targets) without a single touchdown. He surpassed 50 receiving yards in just one of those 17 appearances. Musgrave will continue to handle the No. 1 tight end role during Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Bears.

Packers' Luke Musgrave: Remains involved Saturday
Musgrave caught all three of his targets for 38 yards during Saturday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Bears.
The third-year pro from Oregon State tallied the second-most receiving yards on the Packers during Saturday's loss, trailing Romeo Doubs (5-84-1). Musgrave's role in Green Bay's offense may be growing, as he's caught seven of nine targets for 90 yards over the last two games. However, he likely won't have much fantasy value in the Week 17 matchup against the Ravens, especially with injuries to both Jordan Love (concussion) and Malik Willis (shoulder).

Musgrave caught four of six targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Broncos.
Musgrave reached season highs in targets, receptions and yards Sunday, as the 25-year-old tight end was a much bigger part of the Packers' offensive attack against the Broncos. It was presumed that Musgrave would be the Packers' tight end who benefited most from the absence of Tucker Kraft (knee), and he did in Week 10, leading all players at his position in snaps and receiving yardage. However, things took a sharp turn Sunday, as he not only finished second in both departments but third behind John FitzPatrick and Josh Whyle -- who both, unlike Musgrave, were credited with a Week 11 start. Roles are seemingly fluid in Green Bay's tight end room for the time being, but those counting on Musgrave in fantasy leagues should at the least be evaluating other options.
