Greg Bell: Returns to Pittsburgh
The Steelers signed Bell to their practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Bell was let go by the Lions in late July and latched on with the Steelers during training camp. The San Diego State product has yet to appear in a regular-season NFL game, but he had 245 carries for 1,091 yards and nine touchdowns during his final collegiate season in 2021. Bell rushed just four times for nine yards in Pittsburgh's preseason finale versus Atlanta, but he's apparently impressed enough to stick around the organization.

Lions' Greg Bell: Shifts back to IR
Bell (hamstring) reverted to the Lions' injured reserve Thursday, per the NFL's official transaction report.
Detroit waived Bell with an injury designation Wednesday, but he will land on the team's IR after passing through waivers unclaimed. As a result, the 24-year-old undrafted running back will be forced to sit out the entirety of the 2022 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with the team.

Lions' Greg Bell: Will need time
Bell (hamstring) will "be down for a little bit," according to head coach Dan Campbell, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Bell suffered the injury during practice last Thursday and still isn't quite ready to return. The San Diego State alum joined the Lions as an undrafted free agent this spring and was likely facing an uphill battle to make the squad. Any significant time missed will likely hurt the 24-year-old's chances of earning a spot on the Lions.

Lions' Greg Bell: Suffers possible hamstring injury
Bell was tended to by the Lions' trainers for what appeared to be a hamstring injury Thursday, Jeff Risdon of USA Today reports.
Bell pulled up with apparent discomfort in his upper left leg while running routes in practice. The non-contact nature of this apparent injury seems to indicate some kind of soft tissue injury in the rookie running back's leg. If this injury does indeed prove serious, it could prove catastrophic for Bell's chances to make the Lions' final 53-man roster this coming season.
