Platzgummer will continue to develop with New York as part of the International Player Pathway program. He played for the Swarco Raiders Tirol in Austria before transitioning to the NFL as a running back.

Platzgummer was waived by the Giants on Monday, Dan Benton of USA Today reports.
Platzgummer was let go Monday after re-signing with the Giants this offseason, but he will likely return to the team's practice squad via the International Player Pathway program. The 25-year-old is yet to make his NFL debut after joining New York from the Swarco Raiders Tirol in Austria.

Platzgummer spent last season on New York's practice squad and was re-signed in April. The 24-year-old is unlikely to crack the rotation as the Giants brought in Devontae Booker and Corey Clement to serve as the backups behind Saquon Barkley.
