  • Mason Crosby: Hangs up cleats

Crosby announced Tuesday in an appearance on 105.7 The Fan Milwaukee that he is retiring from the NFL, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports.

Crosby, who didn't play during the 2024 campaign, suited up for 13 seasons with the Packers after being selected by the team in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft, and he earned a ring when Green Bay won Super Bowl XLV. He also played three games with the Giants in 2023. The 40-year-old retires having converted 400 of 492 field-goal attempts (81.3 percent) in his career. He ranks 11th in NFL history with 1,939 career points.

  • Mason Crosby: Goes back to practice squad

The Giants reverted Crosby to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

New York's season is over, but Crosby could potentially still see postseason action if another team were to sign him off the Giants' practice squad. The veteran kicker went 2-for-3 on field-goal tries and converted all three extra-point attempts in Sunday's win over Philadelphia. He finished the campaign having gone 5-for-7 on field-goal attempts and 6-for-7 on extra-point tries over three games.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Set to kick again Sunday

The Giants elevated Crosby from the practice squad Saturday in advance of Sunday's game versus the Eagles, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Crosby thus will serve as the Giants' placekicker for a third straight contest to end the campaign. On the first two occasions, he struck true on three of four field-goal attempts and three of four point-after tries.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Moves back to practice squad

The Giants reverted Crosby to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Crosby has been New York's gameday kicker each of the past two weeks, going 3-for-4 on field-goal attempts and 3-for-4 on extra-point tries over that span. The veteran missed a 54-yard field-goal attempt late in the fourth quarter that could have won the game for the Giants on Sunday, but he did drill a 52-yarder Week 16 against Philadelphia. Unless New York opts to look for another option ahead of its final game of the season Sunday versus the Eagles, Crosby will likely kick for the team again in that contest.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Misses potential game-winning FG

Crosby went 2-for-3 on field-goal tries and 1-for-2 on extra-point attempts in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Rams.

Crosby hit a 31-yard field goal to end the first half and a 32-yarder early in the fourth quarter, but he couldn't come through on a much more challenging 54-yarder that could have won the game with 35 seconds remaining in the contest. That kick was necessitated in part by Crosby's missed extra point in the third period, as New York consequently trailed by one and opted to try to take the lead with a failed two-point conversion following a Gunner Olszewski 94-yard punt-return TD with 3:27 remaining in the game. Crosby's opportunity to kick has come as a result of Graham Gano (knee) and Randy Bullock (hamstring) landing on IR, and the former Packer has gone 3-for-4 on field-goal tries and 3-for-4 on extra-point attempts over the past two weeks.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Will kick for NYG again Week 17

The Giants elevated Crosby from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

New York has dealt with a litany of kicker injuries this season, as Graham Gano (knee) and Randy Bullock (hamstring) are on IR and Cade York (quadriceps) is on the practice squad/injured list. Crosby was consequently signed to the team's practice squad Dec. 22 and was subsequently elevated for last Sunday's loss to Philadelphia, converting his lone field-goal attempt and both extra-point tries. The former Packer will get another opportunity to kick against the Rams in Week 17, and it seems likely that he'll do so in the Giants' season finale Jan. 7 versus Philadelphia as well.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Goes back to practice squad

Crosby reverted to the Giants' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Crosby spent about a week on the Rams' practice squad in early December, but despite being elevated for a Week 14 matchup with the Ravens, L.A. subsequently opted to stick with Lucas Havrisik at placekicker. Meanwhile, the Giants churned through multiple kickers after Graham Gano (knee) was lost for the season, seeing Randy Bullock (hamstring) and Cade York (quadriceps) also go down to injuries before they inked Crosby to a practice-squad contract last Friday. The former Packer played Monday at Philadelphia, making his only field-goal attempt (52 yards) and both his point-after tries. With two games to go for the Giants in the regular season and also two available practice-squad elevations for Crosby, he'll likely handle kicking duties on both occasions.

  • Giants' Mason Crosby: Elevated to active roster

The Giants elevated Crosby to the active roster Sunday.

Mike reported Friday that Crosby is set to take over the kicking duties for Monday's game against the Eagles after Cade York was placed on the practice squad/injured list after sustaining a quadriceps injury during practice. York was brought in after Graham Gano (knee) and Randy Bullock (hamstring) were both placed on IR. Crosby hasn't had a chance to attempt a field goal this year, though he did spend some time on the Rams' practice squad before being cut by the team Dec. 12.
