  • Derick Brassard: Announces retirement

    Brassard said Sunday in an interview with Mathias Brunet of La Presse that he has retired from professional hockey. Brassard didn't play during the 2023-24 season after suffering a fractured fibula in his final game with the Senators on March 30, 2023. The 36-year-old forward produced 215 goals and 545 points in 1,013 career regular-season games for the Blue Jackets, Rangers, Senators, Penguins, Avalanche, Panthers, Islanders, Coyotes, Oilers and Flyers.

  • Senators' Derick Brassard: Undergoes surgery for broken fibula

    Brassard had surgery on a broken fibula Saturday and will miss the remainder of the season, per Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun. Brassard suffered the injury Thursday against the Flyers and will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery Saturday morning. The 35-year-old center will finish the year with 13 goals and 10 assists in 62 games. Ridly Greig will rejoin the lineup Saturday against the Maple Leafs, filling in for Brassard in the bottom six.
