  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Loaned out of organization

Panik was loaned from AHL Bridgeport to HC Lausanne of the Swiss league Wednesday, per CapFriendly.

Panik got into four games with the Islanders last year, but it's clear he's not part of their immediate NHL-level plans. The 31-year-old will likely get playing time with Lausanne, but expecting him back in the NHL this year would be a stretch.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Sent down Wednesday

Panik was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday, per CapFriendly.

Panik served as reinforcements while the Islanders battled a COVID-19 outbreak. Now that the team is getting some forwards back, he'll head back to the minors. The 30-year-old had one assist in four games.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Called up from minors

Panik was elevated from AHL Bridgeport on Saturday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Panik figures to immediately step into the lineup against the Flames on Saturday, as the team will be without Ross Johnston, Josh Bailey, Anders Lee or Anthony Beauvillier, all of whom are currently in the NHL's COVID-19 protocols. It will be Panik's first game of the season for New York after starting the year in the minors, where he has tallied just two goals in 11 contests.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Clears waivers

Panik has cleared waivers but remains with the team, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Panik had very little chance to make the team out of camp. His best chance to stay with the club will be as an extra forward, but general manager Lou Lamoriello may be keeping him with the team as he tries to make a trade or two rather than risk a team claiming someone like Kieffer Bellows on waivers. If the Islanders don't make a trade of some sort by the roster deadline Monday, Panik will likely see himself ticketed for Bridgeport of the AHL.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Officially dropped to AHL

Panik was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Monday.

Panik originally stayed up with the team after clearing waivers but had not been reassigned to the minor-league club. The 30-year-old winger should be atop the list of potential call-ups throughout the upcoming campaign should the need arise.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Hits waiver wire

Panik was placed on waivers by the Islanders on Saturday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

Panik landing on the waiver wire certainly comes as a surprise considering the team acquired him from Detroit in exchange for Nick Leddy over the summer. IN 48 games for the Red Wings and Capitals last year, the 30-year-old Panik notched four goals, nine helpers and 59 shots. The Slovak has certainly bounced around the league, having played for six different clubs over his nine-year NHL career and could wind up with a seventh if somebody is willing to snatch him off waiver. If not, Panik figures to be assigned to AHL Bridgeport for the start of the season.

  • Islanders' Richard Panik: Dealt to Islanders

Panik was traded from the Red Wings to the Islanders on Friday in exchange for Nick Leddy.

Panik has been moved around the last few seasons, and he'll now join his fifth team in the last five years to begin the 2021-22 campaign. He averaged 12:22 of ice time per game across 48 appearances with the Capitals and Red Wings last year, recording four goals and nine assists.

  • Red Wings' Richard Panik: Logs second point with new club

Panik garnered an assist Saturday in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Stars.

Panik has a goal and an assist through six games following his trade to the Wings at the deadline. The journeyman, whom the Capitals gave up in the deal that also sent Jakub Vrana to Motown, finds himself in a third-line role, averaging 13:40 of ice time. Indeed, Panik is going to be utilized more frequently now that he's in Detroit, but the tradeoff is that he's on an inferior offense.

  • Red Wings' Richard Panik: Contributes goal in win

Panik scored a goal on two shots and added six hits in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Stars.

Panik wasn't as impressive as his fellow former Capital Jakub Vrana, who scored four times, but Panik made his own contribution. The 30-year-old struck at 19:49 of the first period and ultimately forced the Stars to replace Anton Khudobin with Jake Oettinger for the final two periods. Panik has just 10 points, 48 shots on net, 62 hits and a minus-10 rating in 41 outings between the Red Wings and the Capitals this year.

  • Red Wings' Richard Panik: Packs bags for Motor City

The Red Wings acquired Panik, Jakub Vrana, a 2021 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick from the Capitals for Anthony Mantha on Monday.

Panik is signed through the 2022-23 season and should add some stability to the Red Wings' bottom six during the team's rebuild. The 30-year-old has picked up three goals and six assists through 36 games with the Capitals this season. Panik's first opportunity to play with his new team is likely Thursday versus the Blackhawks.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Clears waivers

Panik cleared waivers Thursday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

Panik's contract and lack of recent offensive production likely scared off rival clubs from picking the Czech winger off the waiver wire. The 30-year-old winger appears ticketed either for AHL Hershey or Washington's taxi squad, where he will await his next opportunity to crack the NHL lineup.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Assigned to taxi squad

Panik was assigned to Washington's taxi squad after clearing waivers Thursday, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports.

Panik has been a healthy scratch for three of Washington's last five games, so this move doesn't come as a surprise. He's picked up nine points in 36 contests this year.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Hits waivers

Panik was placed on waivers Thursday, Samantha Pell of The Washington Post reports.

Panik has managed just one goal and three points in his last 15 games, which has allowed Daniel Sprong to overtake the 30-year-old for the third-line right wing spot in recent outings. The 52nd overall pick from the 2009 NHL Entry Draft could be claimed by another team prior to noon Thursday, but with a $2.75 million cap hit and scant offensive production, there's a decent chance Panik will find himself bound for the Capitals' taxi squad or AHL Hershey in the near future.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Healthy scratch Tuesday

Panik was a healthy scratch for Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.

The return of Lars Eller from a lower-body injury and the strong recent play of Daniel Sprong were enough to force Panik out of the lineup. The 30-year-old winger isn't likely to spend much time in the press box, but with no points in his last six games and Washington's solid depth at right wing, Panik could have trouble receiving consistent ice time.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Grabs third goal of year

Panik scored a goal on his only shot in Monday's 6-0 win over Buffalo.

Panik teed up a Dmitry Orlov setup and hammered a one-timer past Carter Hutton give Washington a 3-0 lead 5:59 into the second period. Panik hadn't scored a goal in his previous nine games entering the night, a drought that dated back to Feb. 25. The 29-year-old is strictly a bottom-six role player for Washington who offers limited offensive upside.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Bags apple Tuesday

Panik tallied an assist, two shots, three hits and a minus-1 rating during Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Devils.

The helper brings Panik to three points in his last 10 games. With just two goals and eight points in 25 games, the 30-year-old winger is not much of a fantasy consideration outside of deeper leagues unless he can secure a more prominent role in the lineup.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Nets first goal in February

Panik scored a goal on his only shot and had a pair of hits in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

Panik collected his second goal of the year when he drove hard to the net on his backhand and made a quick move to his forehand to beat Pittsburgh netminder Tristan Jarry. The goal, which tied the game at 1-1, was Panik's first since Jan. 30 and snapped his personal eight-game drought.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Doles out two apples

Panik collected two assists and was plus-2 in a 3-1 win over Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Panik set up both Conor Sheary and Lars Eller with perfect centering passes in the second and third periods, respectively, to help the Capitals build a 3-0 lead. Panik had entered the night without a point in four February contests, and Tuesday's outing was his first multi-point game of the season. The 29-year-old has one goal and four helpers through 14 games.

  • Capitals' Richard Panik: Lights lamp Saturday

Panik registered a goal, five shots, two hits and two blocked shots during Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Bruins.

Panik's first marker of the season brings him to three points in the first nine games. The 29-year-old winger is expected to work mainly on the third line and should continue to enjoy modest production once the Capitals get back to full health. However, Panik isn't a particularly valuable fantasy commodity unless he can secure a more meaningful offensive role.
