Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Goal in return from injury
Marchessault (lower body) scored a goal in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Calgary.
Marchessault had missed the previous two games because of injury. He wired a wrist shot from the slot past Devin Cooley at 14:25 in the second period. Marchessault has struggled mightily this season. After delivering 56 points last season and 69 the campaign before, he has just five goals and three assists in 21 contests. At some point, Marchessault's game may take off, although his 10.6 shooting percentage isn't that far off his career 11.4, so his scuffles aren't about bad luck. At 34 (and soon 35 this month), his wheels will come off soon enough. This feels too soon, though.

Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Good to go
Marchessault (lower body) will be in the lineup against Calgary on Tuesday, according to Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.
Following a two-game absence, Marchessault will return to a top-six role and see power-play time in his return to action. He has provided four goals, seven points, 46 shots on net and 33 hits in 20 appearances this season.

Marchessault scored a goal in Saturday's 4-2 win over Calgary.
His power-play goal stood as the winner. Marchessault took a pass from Michael Bunting on a 3-on-2 rush and beat Dustin Wolf on the forehand from in front of the net. After putting up four points in his first four games, Marchessault has just two goals on 15 shots in his last six outings. He recorded 21 goals, 35 assists and 206 shots on net in 78 games during the 2024-25 regular season, but his minus-29 rating hung like an anchor for some managers. This season, Marchessault is already minus-8 in 10 games.

Marchessault scored two goals on three shots and added three hits, a blocked shot and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 4-1 win over the Senators.
The veteran winger opened the scoring midway through the second period when he tapped a puck past Linus Ullmark from in close, and Marchessault then potted the first of two Nashville empty-netters late in the third. The tallies were the first of the season for Marchessault, and he's produced three points in three games to begin his second campaign with the Predators. Marchessault ended the year with two goals and five assists over five contests after missing four games due to a lower-body injury. He had a total of 21 goals, 56 points (23 on the power play), 206 shots on net, 77 hits, 35 PIM and a minus-29 rating over 78 appearances. His 10.2 shooting percentage was his lowest since 2020-21, and combined with a lower shot volume, it explains most of his struggles in his first year with the Predators.

Marchessault returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing four games due to a lower-body injury. The right-shot winger had logged just one assist over 10 contests prior to being sidelined, so the time off might have been what he needed to finish 2024-25 on a high note in what's been a disappointing first season with Nashville. The 34-year-old hasn't scored since March 4, and if he can't find the back of the net in the club's remaining four matchups, he'll fail to reach the 20-goal mark for the first time over a full campaign since his rookie year in 2015-16 with Tampa Bay.
