  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Stays hot in defeat

Granlund distributed two helpers Thursday in a 3-2 shootout loss to St. Louis. Granlund registered the primary assist on each of Alexander Wennberg's markers. Granlund is on a four-game point streak consisting of two goals and four assists, and he's easily been San Jose's most consistent player on offense. The 32-year-old has been held off the scoresheet just seven times through 22 games, an impressive feat for a player on a team that is projected to finish towards the bottom of the standings. The left-shot Finnish forward leads the Sharks in points by a wide margin -- Granlund has nine goals and 15 assists, which is eight points more than any of his teammates.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Playing against Blues

Granlund (upper body) will be in action to face St. Louis on Thursday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports. Granlund will avoid missing any time after being injured in Wednesday's matchup with Dallas. The 32-year-old center is riding a three-game point streak while racking up three goals and five assists in his last seven outings. With Granlund fully fit, he figures to maintain his first-line role alongside William Eklund and Fabian Zetterlund.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Exits late in loss

Granlund (upper body) left Wednesday's game versus the Stars in the third period, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky didn't have an update on Granlund's status. The center was pulled from the game late in the third period after a high hit, so it's likely he was in the concussion protocol. The injury leaves him in doubt for Thursday's game against the Blues. Givani Smith would likely draw into the lineup and Alexander Wennberg would move up if Granlund can't play Thursday. Prior to his exit, Granlund scored a shorthanded goal and added his 400th career assist in the 5-2 loss.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Scores in shootout loss

Granlund scored a goal on two shots and blocked three shots in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Penguins. Granlund got on the board against one of his former teams. He's produced three goals and three assists over seven contests in November. The 32-year-old center continues to thrive in less-than-ideal circumstances as a top-six option for the Sharks. He's up to eight goals, 11 helpers, 66 shots on net, 17 hits, 14 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 19 appearances. Granlund had 12 goals on 134 shots over 69 outings last season, but it appears he's set for larger production as a finisher thanks to increases in both efficiency and volume.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Two points in shootout loss

Granlund notched a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers. Both points came in the second period to spark a comeback from a 3-0 deficit. Granlund appears to be headed for a breakout campaign despite the struggles of the team around him, and through the first 17 games of 2024-25, the 32-year-old center has amassed seven goals and 18 points. Granlund has never recorded 200 or more shots in a season, but he's already put 57 pucks on net, putting him on pace to shatter his previous career high of 193 set back in 2017-18.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Dishes pair of helpers

Granlund logged two assists and two shots on goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild. Granlund set up both of Macklin Celebrini's tallies in the loss. Since Celebrini returned from a lower-body injury, Granlund has moved over to left wing, which could lead to him getting more position eligibility in some formats. The 32-year-old natural center has been excellent in a top-line role this season with six goals, eight assists, 45 shots on net and 16 hits through 14 contests, though he's also been saddled with a minus-7 rating that's unlikely to improve.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Pots goal in loss

Granlund scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks. Granlund had been held off the scoresheet in the previous two contests following a seven-game point streak. He scored to tie the game at 2-2 with 1:17 left in the third period, but Pius Suter answered less than a minute later to give the Canucks the win in regulation. Granlund continues to stand out among the Sharks' forwards, earning six goals, eight assists, 44 shots on net, 13 hits, eight PIM and a minus-7 rating over 13 appearances this season.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Three-point night in Utah

Granlund scored a goal and added two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over Utah. With the Sharks down 4-1 late in the third period, the veteran center sparked a rally by setting Fabian Zetterlund up for a tally with less than five minutes remaining in regulation before finding the back of the net himself just 25 seconds later. Granlund then helped set up Alexander Wennberg for the OT winner. Granlund extended his point streak to seven games in the process, a stretch in which he's erupted for five goals and 12 points.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Tallies in Saturday's loss

Granlund scored a goal on five shots and went minus-3 in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Golden Knights. Granlund has four goals and five assists during his six-game point streak, but he's been the only bright spot for the Sharks in that span. The 32-year-old is up to 10 points, 34 shots on net, nine hits, eight PIM and a minus-7 rating through nine appearances. He'll have plenty of chances to contribute offensively in a large all-situations role. Still, Granlund is a risky option in fantasy formats that count plus-minus ratings because the Sharks tend to get heavily outscored.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Two power-play goals in loss

Granlund scored two power-play goal on six shots, added two hits and went minus-2 in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Kings. The Kings jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on, but Granlund was able to cut the deficit to one. The Sharks fell short of tying the game, though Granlund continues to stand out in a top-line role. He's found the scoresheet in five straight games and is up to three goals, six assists, 29 shots on net, eight hits, eight PIM and a minus-4 rating through eight outings overall.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Nets first goal of season

Granlund scored a power-play goal on five shots and added two PIM in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Ducks. Granlund's goal at 4:55 of the third period briefly tied the game at 1-1. The 32-year-old had been all playmaker prior to this, and he's maintained a point-per-game pace (one goal, six assists) through seven contests. The center has added 23 shots on net, six hits, four blocked shots, eight PIM and a minus-2 rating, and four of his seven points have come on the power play. Macklin Celebrini (lower body) is expected to miss another two weeks, so Granlund has a bit more time to enjoy himself as the No. 1 center.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Provides two more assists

Granlund notched two assists, two blocked shots and two PIM in Friday's 8-3 loss to the Jets. Granlund helped out on goals by Tyler Toffoli (on the power play) and Fabian Zetterlund. This was Granlund's second two-assist game in a row. The 32-year-old center is up to five helpers, 16 shots on net, four blocked shots, four hits and an even plus-minus rating over five appearances this season while filling a top-six role.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Puts up two helpers in loss

Granlund logged a pair of assists, four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Blackhawks. This was Granlund's first multi-point effort of the campaign. The center has three helpers, 16 shots on net, three hits and a plus-1 rating over four outings. He'll continue to fill in as the top-line center as long as Macklin Celebrini (lower body) is out. Granlund's large role and power-play time make him a viable option for fantasy managers in deeper formats in need of a playmaker.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Collects assist Thursday

Granlund notched an assist, four shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blues. Granlund opened the season alongside Will Smith on the second line. A natural center, Granlund won nine of his 10 faceoffs, while Smith won just one of 11 draws, so it's likely the two forwards will split the center duties when they're playing together. Last year, Granlund was a pleasant surprise with 60 points in 69 contests, reaching that milestone mark for just the fourth time in his career. The Finn should be a regular in the top six and on the power play throughout 2024-25.

He accounted for 12 goals and 60 points across 69 regular-season appearances in 2023-24. Granlund is expected to occupy a top-six role and could play on the top power-play unit.
