  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Struggles late in OT loss

Andersen stopped 38 of 42 shots on net in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Capitals.

Andersen soared through the first 27 minutes of regulation against a high volume of shots before he allowed four consecutive goals, including the OT-winner to Washington's Justin Sourdif. With the loss, Andersen now holds a 7-10-5, a 3.26 GAA and an .871 save percentage across 22 appearances this season. While the 36-year-old netminder has seen a mixed bag of results in January, he hasn't lost in regulation since Jan. 3, earning the Hurricanes at least one point in each of his last five starts. The veteran netminder is becoming a more stable option in net for the Canes, which should lead to him seeing a solid chunk of starts down the stretch behind Brandon Bussi. While rostering Andersen in fantasy comes with risk, his track record and recent outings give him viable fantasy value in two-goalie formats.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Saturday

Andersen is expected to start on the road against Washington on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Andersen stopped 19 of 22 shots en route to a 4-3 shootout loss to Chicago in his last start Jan. 22. He has a 7-10-4 record, 3.23 GAA and .869 save percentage in 21 outings this season. The Capitals are coming off a six-game road trip in which they went 2-3-1 while averaging 2.83 goals per game.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Falls short in shootout

Andersen stopped 19 shots in regulation and overtime and four of six shootout attempts during Thursday's 4-3 loss to Chicago.

Carolina once again kept the shot volume low on Andersen, but the chances he did see were from in close and high-danger areas. The veteran netminder is 2-0-2 over his last four starts and didn't face more than 30 shots in any of them, posting a 2.43 GAA and .880 save percentage over that stretch.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Set to face Chicago

Andersen is expected to start at home against Chicago on Thursday, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer.

Andersen stopped 29 of 30 shots en route to a 4-1 win over the Devils in his last start Saturday. He's 7-10-3 with a 3.26 GAA and an .869 save percentage in 20 outings in 2025-26. Chicago ended its three-game losing streak Monday, but the Blackhawks have still scored two or fewer goals in each of their past four games.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Posts strong outing Saturday

Andersen stopped 29 of 30 shots on net in Saturday's 4-1 win over New Jersey.

Andersen posted one of his best outings of the season Saturday, as he picked up his second win with 25-plus saves. Overall, the 36-year-old netminder has a 7-10-3 record with a 3.26 GAA and an .869 save percentage through 20 appearances this year. While Saturday's victory was just his second since Nov. 6, the winning performance against high volume was an encouraging outing. He remains a tough option to trust in fantasy, but Carolina's strong defensive system in front of him makes Andersen a viable streamer. His next chance to take the ice is Monday against the Sabres.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Between pipes Saturday

Andersen will defend the road net against New Jersey on Saturday, according to Mike Morreale of NHL.com.

Andersen will get the second half of Carolina's back-to-back after Brandon Bussi played in Friday's 9-1 win over Florida. The 36-year-old Andersen is coming off a 14-save effort in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit. He has a 6-10-3 record with a 3.37 GAA and an .863 save percentage through 19 appearances this season. New Jersey ranks 27th in the league with 2.62 goals per game this campaign.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Falls to Wings in OT

Andersen made 14 saves in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit.

Carolina did its usual good job of limiting chances by the opposition, but Andersen still allowed three goals on only 13 shots through the first two periods before the Hurricanes mounted a frantic rally in the third just to force OT. The veteran netminder has struggled in five starts since Pyotr Kochetkov (hip) landed on IR in late December, going 1-3-1 with a 3.99 GAA and ghastly .826 save percentage over that stretch.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Facing Red Wings

Andersen will guard the road goal against Detroit on Monday, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Andersen is coming off an 11-save performance in Thursday's 5-2 win over Anaheim. He has a 6-10-2 record with a 3.35 GAA and an .866 save percentage through 18 appearances this campaign. Detroit is tied for 16th in the league this season with 3.11 goals per game.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Cruises to win Thursday

Andersen made 11 saves in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Ducks.

Carolina outshot the visitors 35-13 on the night, and Andersen shut the door completely in the second half of the game. It was the veteran netminder's first win since Nov. 6, and it was an encouraging performance after he'd given up 14 goals on just 84 shots over his prior three starts. With Pyotr Kochetkov (hip) on the shelf, Andersen is seeing regular action again, but he remains behind Brandon Bussi on the depth chart.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Between pipes Thursday

Andersen will start Thursday's home game against the Ducks, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Andersen has seen limited playing time this season, but he's gone winless over nine starts since early November. During that time, he's gone 0-7-2 with a 3.85 GAA and .840 save percentage. The Ducks are scoring 3.28 goals per game this year, which ranks eighth in the NHL.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Another meltdown in third period

Andersen stopped 30 of 34 shots in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Avalanche. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Andersen and the Hurricanes were ahead 3-1 after two periods, but that lead was gone less than two minutes into the final frame. The Avalanche kept going, with a second Brock Nelson power-play tally deciding the game at 7:30 of the third period. This was Andersen's ninth loss in a row. He's allowed at least three goals in all of them, and he's lost his last six starts in regulation time. He drops to 5-10-2 with a 3.43 GAA and an .867 save percentage over 17 starts this season. Andersen will share the crease with Brandon Bussi, though both goalies have struggled with the Hurricanes' third-period lapses lately. The team won't have much time to dwell on this loss, as the Hurricanes visit the Devils on Sunday.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Between pipes Saturday

Andersen will patrol the home crease against Colorado on Saturday, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.

Andersen has lost his last eight outings (0-6-2) while allowing 30 goals on 179 shots. He has a 5-9-2 record this season with a 3.38 GAA and an .865 save percentage through 16 appearances. Andersen made 44 saves in a 5-4 shootout win over the Avalanche on Oct. 23. Colorado ranks first in the league with 4.05 goals per game this campaign.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Allows five goals Tuesday

Andersen stopped 23 of 28 shots in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Penguins.

Andersen hasn't won a game since Nov. 6 and has dropped his last eight starts, going 0-6-2 with a 3.81 GAA and a subpar .832 save percentage over that stretch. What's even more worrying is the fact that Andersen has given up five goals in each of his last two outings. As if his backup role wasn't enough reason to avoid him in most formats, Andersen hasn't performed well on an individual level to even gain upside as a streaming option in deep formats.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Tuesday

Andersen is expected to make the road start versus the Penguins on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Andersen will see his workload increase now that Pyotr Kochetkov (hip) is expected to miss the rest of the season. This will be Andersen's third appearance in December, and until his play gets on track, Brandon Bussi is likely to handle a majority of the workload. Andersen is 0-5-2 with an .834 save percentage over his last seven outings. The Penguins have 17 goals over their last six games, though they've been shut out twice in that span.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Late collapse against Florida

Andersen made 17 saves in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Panthers.

Carolina held a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, but a Niko Mikkola point shot deflected past Andersen early in the final frame, and that seemed to open the floodgates. The veteran netminder was seeing his first action since Dec. 4, and while Tuesday's result had a lot more to do with ragged play by the Hurricanes defense, it won't encourage coach Rod Brind'Amour to work Andersen into his three-headed goalie rotation more frequently. Anderson's gone seven straight starts without a win dating back to Nov. 11, stumbling to an 0-5-2 record over that stretch with a 3.64 GAA and .834 save percentage.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Gets starting nod against Cats

Andersen will be between the pipes at home versus the Panthers on Tuesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Andersen hasn't featured in the crease since Dec. 4 versus Toronto, with the Canes having split the last nine starts between Brandon Bussi and Pyotr Kochetkov. At some point, Carolina will likely have to make a decision in the crease rather than carrying three netminders, and it appears Andersen could be the odd man out.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Battled puck all night in loss

Andersen made 19 saves in a 5-1 loss to Toronto on Thursday.

The first couple goals were purely bad luck. The first went off the post, hit Andersen and trickled over the line. The second hit the back glass and the puck bounced into the slot where a Leaf player drilled it past the stunned netminder. Andersen allowed four goals. He has really struggled over the last month. His last regulation win was Nov. 8, and he's 1-4-2 in seven starts. Andersen has allowed 23 goals in that span.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting against Toronto

Andersen will defend the home crease against the Maple Leafs on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Andersen has been in a skid across the past few weeks, as he's gone 0-3-2 with a 3.26 GAA and .849 save percentage over his last five starts. He didn't appear in either of Carolina's last two games but will return to the crease for Thursday's home matchup. The Maple Leafs have had a proficient offense this year, scoring 3.42 goals per game, which is the fifth-highest mark in the NHL.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Losing streak continues Wednesday

Andersen stopped 14 of 17 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers, with New York's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

While the Rangers didn't get a lot of chances, the ones they did get came in high-danger areas, and Andersen couldn't come up with a big save to shift the momentum. The veteran netminder has gone five straight starts without a win, stumbling to a record of 0-3-2 record with a 3.26 GAA and an .849 save percentage. Still, with Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) potentially set to miss some time, Andersen could be leaned on heavily in the short term by the Hurricanes.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Guarding cage versus Rangers

Andersen will tend the twine at home versus the Rangers on Wednesday, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.

Andersen is mired in a four-game losing streak, allowing 13 goals on 89 shots (.854 save percentage) in that span. He's alternated starts during that stretch, but Andersen looks to be in line for a larger workload in the absence of Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body). The Rangers have scored just 12 goals over their last six games, going 2-4-0 in that span, so this could be a good chance for Andersen to get on track.
