  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Notches apple in loss

Nelson produced an even-strength assist in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Blackhawks. Nelson picked up the primary assist on Noah Dobson's fourth goal of the season early in the third period. Nelson has dished an assist in three consecutive games, but he's mired in a nine-game goal drought. The left-shot center has struggled on the man advantage as well -- he has just one power-play goal this season after potting nine in 2023-24. Nelson is up 10 goals and 20 points while averaging 19:18 of ice time through 32 games. He'll look to extend his point streak to four games Tuesday against the Hurricanes.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Picks up assist in loss

Nelson logged an assist in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Kings. Nelson snapped a six-game slump with the helper. Prior to that dry spell, he had seven points over three contests. Consistency is a concern, especially when playing in a low-scoring offense, and it's not great that he has just four shots on net over his last four games. For the season, the 33-year-old center is at 18 points, 87 shots on net and a minus-2 rating over 30 appearances.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Carries offense in loss

Nelson scored two goals and added an assist in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Bruins. It's the second three-point performance in three games for Nelson, a stretch in which he's broken out for three goals and seven points. The veteran center hadn't had a multi-point effort prior to that since Oct. 25, but on the season Nelson has 10 goals and 17 points in 23 contests. Mathew Barzal (upper body) has missed all of November while Anthony Duclair (leg) has been sidelined since mid-October, and until they're cleared to return, Nelson will have to keep carrying a bigger share of the scoring load for the Isles.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: In on all three goals in win

Nelson scored a power-play goal on four shots, added two assists and went plus-2 in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Blues. Nelson's second-period tally was the game-winner, and he also set up linemate Kyle Palmieri's two goals. This was Nelson's first multi-point effort since Oct. 25, and his third such game of the campaign. The 33-year-old center is up to eight tallies, five assists, 64 shots on net and a plus-5 rating over 21 appearances in a second-line role. He's right on track for a fourth straight 30-goal campaign, though a drop in his assist totals could see him struggle to reach the 50-point mark without a turnaround. That said, his goal was his first power-play point of the year, so he's due for some improvement in that area.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Tallies shorthanded in loss

Nelson scored a shorthanded goal on four shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Kraken. Nelson gave the Islanders a 2-1 lead in the third period, but it lasted just 37 seconds. The veteran center has three goals and an assist over his last seven contests. For the season, he's produced seven tallies, three helpers, 56 shots on net and a plus-3 rating over 18 appearances. Nelson has some value as a depth scorer in fantasy while seeing consistent second-line minutes.

Nelson logged an assist and went plus-2 in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers. Nelson has three points over his last five games. Through 16 contests, Nelson has nine points, 50 shots on net and a plus-3 rating, though he's yet to pick up a power-play point and adds little in the way of physicality.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Scores in loss to Devils

Nelson scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Devils. Nelson has scored two goals in his last four contests, but the 33-year-old playmaker has struggled to produce at a steady rate. He has six goals, eight points, a plus-1 rating and 49 shots across 15 outings in 2024-25. While his goal total isn't bad, his overall offensive production is subpar by his standards -- Nelson finished each of the previous three campaigns with at least 59 points.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Nets goal in Saturday's loss

Nelson scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers. Nelson has three points over his last two games. The 33-year-old center continues to play on the second line, offering a bit of depth scoring for the Islanders. He has six points, 28 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through eight appearances. Nelson is shooting 14.3 percent early on, which is in line with his efficiency in topping the 30-goal mark in each of the last three years, so this appears to be a pretty stable start to the campaign.

Nelson has reached the 30-goal mark in each of the last three seasons, and he was due to find the back of the net sooner than later based on how active he'd been in the previous two contests. Through three games, Nelson has racked up 10 shots.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Two points in Game 5 loss

Nelson scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist Tuesday in a 6-3 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 5. The 32-year-old center did his best to keep his team alive in an elimination game, but the Isles simply didn't have the firepower to keep up with Carolina. Nelson picked up two goals and four points in five postseason contests after supplying 34 goals and 69 points in the regular season, his third straight campaign with 30-plus goals. He has one more season left on his current contract with a $6 million AAV, but there's just $4 million in salary left on Nelson's deal.

Nelson scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 3-2 Game 3 loss to the Hurricanes. Nelson cut the Islanders' deficit to 3-2 with 2:21 remaining in the second period, burying a rebound past Frederik Andersen, though New York would ultimately come up a goal short in the Game 3 loss. It's the first goal and second point for Nelson in the postseason. The 32-year-old center tallied 34 goals and 69 points in 82 games during the regular season.

  • Islanders' Brock Nelson: Two-point effort against Pens

Nelson produced an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Penguins. After opening the scoring early in the first period, the 32-year-old helped set up Kyle Palmieri with only 16 seconds left in the second frame. Nelson extended his point streak to five games and his goal streak to three games in the process, and over that stretch he's racked up four goals and eight points. If the Islanders are going to upset the Hurricanes in the first round, Nelson will likely need to remain locked in. On the season, he's delivered 34 goals and 69 points, falling just short of the career-best numbers he posted in 2022-23.
