  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Opens scoring Thursday

MacKinnon scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Senators.

MacKinnon ended his five-game goal drought when he scored at 10:29 of the first period. It was the first of four goals in a span of seven minutes that put the Avalanche firmly in charge of the action Thursday. The 29-year-old has five goals and nine helpers over nine outings in March to maintain his league lead in points. Overall, MacKinnon is at 28 goals, 77 assists, 283 shots on net and a plus-27 rating through 70 appearances. He's done all of that with a 9.9 shooting percentage, his second-lowest mark in eight years since he became an annual point-per-game performer.

MacKinnon recorded a power-play assist and six shots on goal in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.

MacKinnon has bounced back from a two-game slump earlier in the month, picking up a helper in each of his last two outings. The center set up Valeri Nichushkin for the Avalanche's lone tally in Wednesday's contest. MacKinnon is up to 104 points over 69 games this season, giving him a three-point edge over the Oilers' Leon Draisaitl for the league lead, who has a game in hand. MacKinnon has 27 goals, 77 helpers, 34 power-play points, 280 shots on net, 53 blocked shots and a plus-26 rating this season.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Assists game-winner in OT

MacKinnon tallied an assist on Sunday's game-winning goal in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Stars.

MacKinnon connected with Cale Makar just 34 seconds into the extra period to give Colorado a much-needed win against one of its division rivals. The 29-year-old MacKinnon is up to 76 assists, 103 points and 274 shots on net in 68 games this season. His helper Sunday ended a two-game skid without a point. Regardless, he has been on fire since the start of February with 23 points in his last 13 games and is only one of two players to pass the 100-point mark this year. This year is the third time he's tallied over the century mark in points and will likely result in him being nominated for the Hart Trophy once again. If he can carry out his offensive momentum for the rest of the season, he will not only have a good shot to win the MVP trophy for the second consecutive year, but he'll also be a potential league-winner in all fantasy formats.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Two helpers Monday

MacKinnon delivered two assists in Monday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks. He also recorded six shots on goal and posted a plus-2 rating.

MacKinnon didn't find the back of the net Monday, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of trying. The star playmaker, who reached the 100-point plateau with his two goals in the 7-4 win over Toronto on Saturday, has been on an absolute tear of late. He's notched four straight multi-point performances and is up to 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in only eight games since the end of the 4 Nations break.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Erupts for five points in win

MacKinnon scored twice on eight shots, added three assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Sharks.

In about as lopsided a game as possible from a talent perspective, MacKinnon made his mark, though he was overshadowed by Cale Makar's six-point effort. Two of MacKinnon's helpers came on the power play. This was the superstar center's fifth multi-point effort over his last eight games, a span in which he has five goals and 13 assists. MacKinnon is now at 25 goals, 73 helpers, 257 shots on net and a plus-23 rating through 63 appearances. He gained separation from Leon Draisaitl (94) and Nikita Kucherov (92) in the Art Ross Trophy race, which is looking like MacKinnon's to lose with six weeks left in the season.

MacKinnon scored twice on the power play, dished an assist and fired six shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Devils.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Electric Monday leads Canada to win

MacKinnon scored two goals in Canada's 5-3 win over Finland at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Monday.

MacKinnon's second goal pushed Canada up 4-0 in the second period. It was a one-timer off a pass from Sidney Crosby, who was below the goal line, and it forced Kevin Lankinen from the Finnish net. The goal also stood as the winner. MacKinnon was named the Player-of-the-Game for his work. He has shown real chemistry with line mate and fellow Nova Scotian, Sidney Crosby, and Florida's Sam Reinhart joined the trio Monday. The overall result was electric -- Crosby had a goal and an assist, and Reinhart put up three helpers.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: 4 Nations chemistry with Crosby

MacKinnon scored a power-play goal in Canada's 4-3 overtime win over Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday.

The goal came in the first minute of play on a blind, backhand spin-a-rama pass from fellow Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia superstar, Sidney Crosby. Sid and Nate spend their summers together training, so all those reps mean the two click without even looking for each other on the ice. MacKinnon was also a bull in overtime, powering in multiple times and pounding Filip Gustavsson with big shots into his body. That kind of play wears down the opposition. MacKinnon is playing a regular shift with Crosby and Mitch Marner, so this tourney is going to be electric with that level of talent.
