Avalanche's Oliver Kylington: Deemed week-to-week
Head coach Jared Bednar said Monday that Kylington (upper body) is considered week-to-week, Bailey Curtis of The Hockey News reports.
Bednar said after Saturday's game against Edmonton that Kylington was considered day-to-day, but the defenseman now appears to be in line to miss more time. The Avalanche are on the brink of beginning a week-long road trip that starts Tuesday in Buffalo, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Kylington sidelined for all five of those road matchups.

Kylington also missed Friday's 5-3 loss to Dallas. While the Avalanche are in Dallas, Kylington is being evaluated in Denver. The 27-year-old defenseman has a goal and an assist in eight appearances in 2024-25. When Kylington is healthy, he'll be in the mix for a spot on the third pairing.

Kylington generated three goals, eight points, 42 shots on net, 51 blocked shots and 24 hits in 33 regular-season appearances with Calgary in 2023-24. After missing all of 2022-23 and a good portion of this season, Kylington's return was a positive story for a Flames team that remains stuck in mediocrity. The defenseman earned eight points and added 42 shots on net, 51 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating. Kylington, a pending unrestricted free agent, expressed his desire to sign with Calgary again, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reported Friday. The 26-year-old blueliner is likely to be a bottom-four blueliner regardless of if he stays or goes, but he could also factor in on the power play more once he gets a full training camp under his belt again.
