Hart didn't get to work with a lead for long -- Vegas was ahead for just 56 seconds in the first period. The 27-year-old was able to settle in fairly well, and he turned three of four shootout attempts to come away with the win in his first game in nearly two years. Until Adin Hill (lower body) is healthy, Hart and Akira Schmid figure to split the goaltending duties. The Golden Knights begin a road trip Friday in New Jersey.

Hart has allowed nine goals on 56 shots over three appearances during his conditioning loan with Henderson. He's gone 1-2-0, and it's safe to say he's still rusty after this brief return to game action. Friday's appearance is likely to be his last start during the conditioning loan, but given his performance, it's fair to question if Vegas will want to thrust him into the backup role at the NHL level right away. If the Golden Knights wanted to get him more playing time in the AHL, he would require waivers to continue his stay in Henderson.

Hart isn't eligible to play for Vegas until December, but he can begin to get himself back into game shape in the minors. He's with the organization on a tryout and is expected to begin working with AHL Henderson, and he'll be eligible to begin practicing with the Golden Knights on Nov. 15. Adin Hill sustained a lower-body injury in the first period of Tuesday's game against the Flames, and Vegas has Akira Schmid as a backup and Carl Lindbom in the AHL if Hill misses time.
