  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Gathers assist in loss

Lapierre logged an assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins. Lapierre has two helpers over four games since he was a scratch for two contests. The 22-year-old is stuck in a third-line role, and that's unlikely to allow him to put up steady offense over long stretches. Those two assists are all he's put up for points so far, and he's added 11 shots on net, nine blocked shots, five hits, four PIM and a minus-4 rating over 11 appearances. Lapierre can be ignored in redraft formats for now, but dynasty managers should hold on with patience.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Records helper Saturday

Lapierre notched an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jackets. Lapierre returned from a two-game stint as a healthy scratch, replacing Michael Sgarbossa in the lineup. The helper was Lapierre's first point in eight outings this season. The 22-year-old has added six shots on net, seven blocked shots, four hits, four PIM and a minus-5 rating. He's unlikely to see much more than bottom-six minutes as the Capitals have found success with their top-six combinations early on.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Losing playing time

Lapierre was scratched for the second game in a row when he sat out Thursday's 6-3 win over the Canadiens. Lapierre won a middle-six job out of training camp, but he went minus-5 with no points over his first seven games of the season. He took four PIM in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Lightning and has since been scratched for two contests in a row, with Michael Sgarbossa taking his place in the lineup. Lapierre should get another look eventually, but he'll need to make some sort of positive impact when he draws back in to avoid being rotated out of the lineup on a regular basis. He had 22 points in 51 regular-season outings in 2023-24, so this slow start is a bit disappointing.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Returned to minors

Lapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday. Lapierre scored just once in his last 19 outings while chipping in eight helpers and 20 shots on goal. The 22-year-old center played in 51 regular-season contests for the Capitals this year and should be a full-time NHL option heading into the 2024-25 campaign. With a full 82-game season, Lapierre is certainly capable of pushing for both the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Nets goal in season-ending loss

Lapierre scored a goal on two shots, added four hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers in Game 4. Lapierre carved through the Rangers' defense to score on his own rebound in the second period, ending an 18-game goal drought. His impressive solo effort tied the game at 2-2, but the Capitals were unable to pull ahead and ultimately lost the game and the first-round series. The 22-year-old center took some strides in 2024-25 with eight goals, 14 assists, 51 shots on net and a minus-1 rating in 51 regular-season outings as well as two points over four playoff games. Lapierre's likely to have a full-time NHL role in 2024-25.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Dishes helper Tuesday

Lapierre registered an assist and three shots during Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres. Since garnering regular playing time following the trade of Evgeny Kuznetsov to the Hurricanes, Lapierre has been a steady contributor for the Capitals with six goals and 12 points in his last 18 games. The 22-year-old is an important piece in Washington's long-term plans and his late-season success should be enough for him to earn a full-time NHL role for the 2024-25 season.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Assigned to AHL

Lapierre was assigned to AHL Hershey on Friday, according to PuckPedia. Lapierre has been on fire recently, racking up four goals and six points over his last six games with the Capitals. The 22-year-old will almost certainly be back up with the big club ahead of Saturday's matchup with Chicago, but he needed to be sent down temporarily in order to be eligible for the AHL playoffs.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Two helpers against Philly

Lapierre collected two assists in Friday's 5-2 win over the Flyers. The 22-year-old rookie also chipped in two shots on net, two blocked shots, two hits and a plus-2 rating while winning 11 of 19 faceoffs. Both of Lapierre's points came in the second period to spark a Caps' rally from an early 2-0 deficit. Since getting recalled from AHL Hershey in late February, he's delivered three goals and five points in three games. He isn't seeing any shifts on the power-play yet, but it may only be a matter of time before his role increases.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Scores twice Monday

Lapierre scored a pair of goals in Monday's 6-3 win over the Senators. Drawing into the lineup for the first time since Jan. 18, Lapierre extended Washington's lead to 5-3 early in the second period before adding a second tally later in the frame, finishing a give-and-go with Anthony Mantha. It's the first career multi-goal effort for the 22-year-old Lapierre, who now has four goals and nine points through 26 games this season. He should hang onto a bottom-six role while Nic Dowd (upper body) and T.J. Oshie (upper body) remain sidelined.

Lapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey following Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Lightning. Lapierre played Saturday, but didn't record a point. He has five points through 14 outings this season and should remain near the top of list for call-ups when the Capitals need a forward.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Two points in OT win

Lapierre produced a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders. The 2020 first-round pick opened the scoring midway through the first period by ripping a one-timer past Semyon Varlamov from the slot. Lapierre has been bouncing between the AHL and NHL rosters this season, and while he has two multi-point performances in his last eight games for Washington, the 21-year-old was held scoreless in the other six. Lapierre saw a team-low 9:00 of ice time Wednesday, but he could earn a more consistent shift as the Capitals juggle a number of injuries to their forward ranks.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Recalled from minors

Lapierre was recalled from AHL Hershey on Tuesday. The Capitals appear to be stockpiling reserves ahead of the upcoming holiday roster freeze with Sonny Milano (upper body), T.J. Oshie (lower body) and Max Pacioretty (achilles) currently on the mend. The 21-year-old has one goal and three points in 11 games with the Capitals this season.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Heading back to AHL

Lapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Saturday. With T.J. Oshie returning from IR, Lapierre will subsequently return to the AHL. The 21-year-old forward has played 11 games with the Capitals this year, tallying a goal and two assists (all coming in one game against Columbus on Nov. 18). Lapierre should be on the shortlist of callups should Washington need reinforcements later this season.

Lapierre scored a goal and two assists on three shots in the Capitals' 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday. Lapierre scored the game-winning goal on a backhand on the rush, giving the Capitals a 4-2 lead at the time. He also picked up helpers on goals by Aliaksei Protas and Sonny Milano. This performance marks Lapierre's first points of the 2023-24 campaign and the first multi-point game of his career. He should continue to play on the third line and second power-play unit.

  • Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Back to junior leagues

Lapierre was released from training camp and loaned to QMJHL Chicoutimi on Monday. Lapierre will hope to pick up where he left off when the CHL suspended operations due to the pandemic, posting three goals and eight points in his first five games. The 18-year-old has a bright future if he can get his development back on track after dealing with neck issues in the last year, and should be squarely on the radar for those managers in dynasty formats.
