Soderblom turned aside 30 shots in regulation and overtime and two of five shootout attempts in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Lightning.
Nikita Kucherov was the only player to get a puck past Soderblom before the shootout. However, the 26-year-old Soderblom struggled with the extra point on the line, as Kucherov, Gage Goncalves and Dominic James all scored in the shootout. It was still the first time Soderblom had allowed fewer than two goals in a start since Nov. 9 against Detroit. Soderblom was spotted a 2-0 lead in the first period, but it was gone by the end of the second. The Bruins didn't let up in the third, sending Soderblom to his first loss since Dec. 20. The 26-year-old netminder has gone 5-8-1 with a 3.97 GAA and an .868 save percentage over 15 appearances, numbers that make him virtually unplayable in most fantasy formats. He'll continue to occupy the backup role behind Spencer Knight, who will likely start at home against the Jets on Monday.

Soderblom was lightly tested Sunday, and that appears to be a good way to keep him from giving up too many goals. Soderblom now has two wins over his last three outings despite allowed eight goals on 61 shots in that span. For the season, he's at a 5-7-1 record with a 3.87 GAA and an .873 save percentage in 14 contests. Spencer Knight is likely to get the nod Wednesday versus the Blues, but Soderblom should get a start during the upcoming back-to-back that features games Friday at home versus the Capitals and Saturday on the road in Nashville.

Soderblom was torched by the Red Wings' second line, which combined for a pair of tallies within the first five minutes of the game. This was Soderblom's fourth straight loss, and it was his best performance in that span, which isn't saying much since he's now allowed 23 goals on 136 shots during the skid. For the year, he's at a 3-6-1 record with a 3.84 GAA and an .876 save percentage over 10 outings. The Blackhawks appear to be committed to keeping Soderblom in the backup role, but the team also needs to act on Laurent Brossoit (hip) soon, as his conditioning loan with AHL Rockford is set to end Tuesday. If Brossoit joins the big club or is swapped for another goalie, Soderblom's NHL roster spot could be at risk.

Soderblom is 3-5-1 with a 3.93 GAA and an .877 save percentage, numbers nearly identical to his marks from 2023-24 in the depths of the Blackhawks' rebuild. Look for Spencer Knight to start Wednesday versus the Rangers, though Soderblom could be between the pipes once during a back-to-back in St. Louis on Friday and at home versus the Red Wings on Saturday.
