Capitals' Justin Sourdif: Nets OT winner
Sourdif scored the game-winning goal, fired five shots on net and dished out three hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over Carolina.
Sourdif launched a shot from the left wing before following his own miss to score the game-winning goal on the rebound. With the OT-winning tally, he is up to 12 goals, 25 points, 76 shots on goal, 63 hits and 24 blocked shots across 51 games this season. Following a two-game absence from the scoresheet, his tally Saturday has helped him maintain a point-per-game pace with three goals over the last six games. Since Dec. 31, he has led the Capitals offensively with nine goals and 16 points. The 23-year-old center appears to be a lock for top-six minutes until Pierre-Luc Dubois (abdomen) returns from injured reserve, making Sourdif a top waiver-wire add across most fantasy formats in the interim.

Sourdif has two goals and three helpers over his last three outings. The 23-year-old forward is cruising in a second-line role, and he's doing enough to get the attention of fantasy managers. For the season, Sourdif has 11 goals, 24 points, 68 shots on net, 59 hits, 19 PIM and a plus-14 rating over 49 appearances. He isn't currently a major factor on the power play, but the rest of his production can give most virtual rosters a boost.

Sourdif practiced Friday, albeit in a non-contact jersey, so he is getting close to a return. The 23-year-old center's first career hat trick was very nearly of the natural variety, as he potted the Capitals' first two tallies late in the first period and their second goal of the second period, with Ryan Leonard sneaking in a snipe just before Sourdif's third. Capitals' Justin Sourdif: Best game of year so far
Sourdif delivered two assists in a 4-0 win over Toronto on Thursday.
"Sourdif, I thought, you could make a strong case for that being his best game of the year," Washington head coach Spencer Carbery said after the game. "I thought he was all over the puck." Sourdif has just one other multi-point game this season, which occurred Nov. 24 against Columbus. He's not a fantasy guy -- he has just three goals and six assists in 33 games -- but Sourdif is fun to watch.
