Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Shipped back to minors
Greaves was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Monday.
Greaves' demotion ahead of Tuesday's clash with Toronto would seem to indicate that Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) will at least be healthy enough to serve as the backup against the Leafs. With youngster Daniil Tarasov having secured the No. 2 role in Columbus, it will take another injury or a trade of Merzlikins for Greaves to get another opportunity this season.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Called up Wednesday
Greaves was called up by Columbus on Wednesday.
Greaves has made one appearances with AHL Cleveland this year and had a difficult time, posting a 7.01 GAA and an .800 save percentage. He has a 3.44 GAA and a .912 save percentage across 10 career NHL regular-season games. His promotion to Columbus might indicate that the availability of Elvis Merzlikins or Daniil Tarasov is in question for Thursday's home contest against Buffalo, but at the moment, neither of the Blue Jackets' regular two goaltenders have a reported injury or illness. If either Merzlikins or Tarasov can't play Thursday, then Greaves will probably dress as the backup netminder.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Sent to AHL
Greaves was sent down to AHL Cleveland on Saturday, according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.
Greaves is the third goaltender in the Columbus system behind Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov. The 23-year-old Greaves appeared in nine NHL games in 2023-24, going 3-6-0 with a 3.49 GAA and a .908 save percentage for a lowly Columbus team that failed to make the playoffs. He sparkled in 46 AHL regular-season appearances with Cleveland, winning 30 games. He should be the first goaltender recalled if there are any injuries to Merzlikins or Tarasov.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Impresses in preseason road win
Greaves stopped 22 of 23 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 preseason win over the Blues.
Greaves improved from his previous outing, doing his part to shut down a fairly veteran Blues roster in this contest. While it was a strong performance, there is little chance he makes the Opening Night roster for the Blue Jackets. Greaves could be an option if Columbus carries three goalies, but he remains behind Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov on the depth chart.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Protecting road net
Greaves will start on the road versus the Blues in Tuesday's preseason game, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Greaves allowed three goals on 15 shots in his previous start against the Sabres. The 23-year-old netminder is unlikely to make the Opening Night roster, and a poor performance Tuesday could lead to him being sent to AHL Cleveland.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Facing Hurricanes
Greaves will patrol the home crease versus Carolina in Tuesday's season finale, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Greaves has gone 2-6-0 in limited NHL action this season, but he's posted a decent .906 save percentage behind a poor Blue Jackets team over that stretch. He'll try to secure his third career NHL victory in a rough home matchup with a red-hot Hurricanes squad that's won five straight games.

Greaves turned aside 42 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Panthers.
Matthew Tkachuk ripped a shot past Greaves just 47 seconds into the first period, and the 23-year-old netminder got little help the rest of the night as he faced a season-high 46 shots on net. Since his promotion in early April, Greaves has allowed 11 goals on 142 shots (.923 save percentage), but he has just a 3.02 GAA and 1-3-0 record to show for it as the Blue Jackets get ready to head back to the draft lottery.

With the game knotted up at 2-2 in the third period, the Lightning finally pulled away with three consecutive goals, including an empty-netter to end the contest. This was only Greaves' sixth game on the season in which he has two wins and four losses. This second stint with the team, after being pulled up from the minors, is an opportunity for Greaves to showcase his talent for the big club for next season.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Solid in Saturday's victory
Greaves allowed two goals on 39 shots in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Flyers.
Greaves was the busier netminder on the night but consistently turned away the Flyers' attack, only allowing a goal in each of the final two frames. It was only the second NHL win for the 23-year-old goalie, but he was stellar with a .949 save percentage, the fourth time in five games that he was above .900 on the season. With Daniil Tarasov (upper body) and Elvis Merzlikins (lower body) injured, Greaves could be worth monitoring for more starts down the stretch.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Stuck with loss in relief
Greaves stopped 24 of 25 shots after replacing Daniil Tarasov (upper body) late in the first period Thursday, eventually getting tagged with the loss as the Blue Jackets fell 4-2 to the Islanders.
The 23-year-old netminder played well, but the only goal he allowed proved to be the game-winner off the stick of Noah Dobson early in the third period. With both Tarasov and Elvis Merzlikins (lower body) banged up and Columbus headed back to the draft lottery, Greaves could see a starter's workload over the final handful of games. In four NHL appearances this season, he's given up 11 goals on 132 shots (.917 save percentage.)

Greaves got the start against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, stopping 26 of 31 shots en route to a 5-3 loss. He has a 2.88 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 37 outings with Cleveland this season. This move might mean Elvis Merzlikins (upper body) will be available Thursday versus Edmonton.

Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tough night in Pittsburgh
Greaves turned aside 26 of 31 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Penguins.
It was just one of those nights for the young goalie -- Pittsburgh's third goal, a Rickard Rakell power-play tally, was the result of a clearing attempt from behind the net by Erik Gudbranson that caromed past Greaves off the Pens forward's skate. Greaves' stay in the NHL could be a short one, as there's been no indication Elvis Merzlikins' upper-body injury is a serious one. Even if Merzlikins isn't ready to return Thursday for a home tilt against the Oilers, it will likely be Daniil Tarasov in the crease for the Jackets.
