  • Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Point streak at 10 games

Necas recorded an assist, three shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. Necas set up a Jesperi Kotkaniemi goal in the first period to take the former's point streak to 10 games. In that span, Necas has seven goals and 14 helpers, making him one of the hottest players in the whole league. The 25-year-old is at 24 points, 32 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through 14 contests overall. There's no question to his talent level, and Necas looks capable of surpassing his career-best 71-point campaign from 2022-23.

  • Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Takes point streak up to nine games

Necas scored a power-play goal on two shots and added an assist in Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Avalanche. While the Hurricanes' winning streak ended at eight games, Necas was able to extend his point streak to nine contests, seven of which have been multi-point efforts. The 25-year-old is tied for fourth in points with Nikita Kucherov and Sam Reinhart. Necas has eight goals, 15 helpers, 29 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over 13 appearances. He's been a big part of the Hurricanes' offense for the last two years, but this has the makings of a breakout campaign for the forward, who has just one 70-point season over his first five full years in the NHL.

  • Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Fourth straight multi-point effort

Necas scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 6-4 victory over the Flyers. With just 31 seconds left in the third period and the score tied 4-4, Necas pounced on a loose puck and flipped it through traffic past a sprawling Aleksei Kolosov. Necas might be the hottest player in the NHL right now, delivering four straight multi-point performances to extend his overall point streak to seven games. During that stretch, the 25-year-old has erupted for six goals and 17 points.

Necas notched an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Flames. Necas has three multi-point efforts over his last four games and has recorded at least an assist in four of his previous five appearances, so he's been a huge component of the Hurricanes' offense in the early stages of the season. Necas has cracked the 50-point plateau in his last two seasons, and he seems well on his way to reaching that mark for a third straight campaign.

Necas scored the game-winning goal in the early stages of the second period to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead, and he later set up Shayne Gostisbehere to double the team's advantage. Necas has three points over his last two outings, and he should continue to have ample opportunities to produce as a top-six forward who also features regularly on the power play.

Necas registered two assists in Friday's 2-1 overtime preseason win versus the Lightning. Necas had the primary helper on both of Carolina's goals in Friday's contest, which puts him up to three assists in two exhibition games. The 25-year-old has a lot to prove in the coming campaign -- the right-shot forward signed a two-year bridge deal with the club in July. With Necas set to fill a top-six role while skating on the top power-play unit, his career high of 71 points in 2022-23 could be within reach.

  • Hurricanes' Martin Necas: Signs bridge deal

Necas, a restricted free agent, agreed to terms on a two-year, $13 million contract with Carolina on Monday. Necas was unable to replicate his 2022-23 campaign, failing to reach even the 60-point threshold after having racked up 71 points the year before. Still, the 25-year-old center has back-to-back 50-plus point seasons and has surpassed the 20-goal mark in each of the last two years. This new deal will see Necas hit the open market after the 2025-26 season when he will likely be looking for a long-term contract.

The 25-year-old forward is up to two goals, four assists, 11 shots on net and a minus-1 rating through six playoff outings. The 25-year-old Necas ended the regular season on a five-game goal drought, tied for his second-longest of the campaign. Necas remains bogged down in a four-game point drought during which he has notched 10 shots while averaging 16:11 of ice time per contest. Even with the slump, the 25-year-old continues to feature in a top-six role, though he could find himself replaced by Andrei Svechnikov if Necas doesn't start producing.

Necas took a pass from Brady Skjei at 11:40 of the third period and one-timed it home for his eighth PP marker of the season and his 24th tally overall. For a guy who was rumored to be on his way out of Raleigh at the trade deadline, Necas has been a big part of the Canes' 11 wins in their past 15 games, with five goals and four assists over that span. He's been fitting in nicely on a line with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Teuvo Teravainen.

Necas opened the scoring on the power play in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Devils. Necas unloaded a heavy slap shot from just inside the blue line for his 20th goal and 45th point of the season. The Hurricanes have been a hot topic of conversation, as they acquired venerable point-packer Jake Guentzel (upper body) from the Penguins at the trade deadline. This figures to better support Necas as the opposite winger in the top-six group of forwards once Guentzel is healthy, which may be soon, as he's been cleared for contact.
