He's doing everything he can to carve out a permanent role in the lineup, though that could be tough to do once Logan Cooley (lower body) is back. Mammoth's Kailer Yamamoto: Records three points Thursday
Yamamoto scored two goals, supplied an assist and fired five shots on net in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Carolina.
Yamamoto found the back of the net twice in just over four minutes in the second period to give Utah a 2-1 lead. He later recorded a helper on Michael Carcone's goal to secure the three-point performance. Overall, the 27-year-old Yamamoto is up to seven goals, seven assists, 29 shots on net and 18 hits across 32 games this season. The three-point effort was the third of his nine-year NHL career and the second multi-point game across his last four appearances. While Yamamoto has been a healthy scratch for periods of time this season, performances such as Thursday's could make him a regular contributor in Utah's bottom six, which would boost his ceiling in fantasy.

Mammoth's Kailer Yamamoto: Two points including GWG

Both points came in the second period as the Mammoth flipped the script on an early 1-0 deficit. Yamamoto had been scratched for the previous two games. He got in the lineup against one of his former teams -- he was with the Kraken in 2023-24 -- and delivered a revenge goal at 13:24 of the second period to give the Mammoth their first lead of Friday's contest. Yamamoto has scored in both of his games against Seattle since he joined Utah. The 27-year-old Yamamoto will likely be confined to a bottom-six role, giving him minimal fantasy upside this season. He has a helper, two shots on net, two hits and a plus-1 rating across five appearances so far. He's on a two-way deal, but he figures to have a fair amount of job security at the NHL level at least until Alex Kerfoot (abdomen) returns, which isn't going to be until mid-December at the earliest. Yamamoto would require waivers to be assigned to AHL Tucson.

Mammoth's Kailer Yamamoto: Re-signs with Utah
Yamamoto signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Mammoth on Tuesday, according to PuckPedia.
This is a two-way deal for Yamamoto, so he'll have to earn a roster spot with the Mammoth this coming season. The 26-year-old appeared in just 12 games with Utah in 2024-25, chipping in two goals and one assist while seeing 12:07 of ice time per game. He shouldn't be on most fantasy managers' radars for 2025-26.

Kailer Yamamoto: Eligible for free agency
Utah didn't issue a qualifying offer to Yamamoto on Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Yamamoto notched 20 goals and 56 points in 54 regular-season outings with AHL Tucson last campaign. In 12 NHL appearances with Utah in the 2024-25 regular season, he had two goals, one assist, 13 shots on net, four blocked shots and nine hits. Yamamoto is still negotiating a new deal with the Mammoth ahead of free agency, Craig Morgan of Arizona Insider reports.
