  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Between pipes Tuesday

Skinner will tend the twine for Tuesday's road game at Ottawa, Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports. With Calvin Pickard already named the starter for Monday's matchup with Montreal, the decision to go with Skinner for the second game of the back-to-back shouldn't come as a surprise. While the 26-year-old Skinner has managed a 2-1-1 record in his last four outings, he's also given up at least three goals in each of those contests. Still, he figures to remain the No. 1 option in Edmonton unless Pickard can string together some strong performances.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Another queasy night in blue paint

Skinner made 18 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto on Saturday. Skinner is best deployed with a big container of antacids. His game has been up and down (mostly down, it feels like), and his stat line of a 5-5-2 record, 3.28 GAA and .877 save percentage have hung like an anchor around most fantasy managers. Skinner found his groove last season after a horrendous start, so there's always hope. Hope's a crummy strategy, though. At some point, you are going to need to determine if you can live through a Skinner see-saw or not.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Starting Saturday

Skinner will get the start Saturday on the road against Toronto, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports. Skinner is 3-1-0 in his last four starts despite posting a mediocre .897 save percentage over that span. The 26-year-old netminder is 5-5-1 with an .881 save percentage and a 3.22 GAA on the season.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Gets overtime win

Skinner stopped 19 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Islanders. Skinner allowed three goals for the third start in a row, but he's won two of those efforts. He nearly had this one in regulation, but the Islanders overcame a 3-1 deficit in the third period to force overtime. Skinner improved to 5-5-1, but his 3.22 GAA and .881 save percentage haven't inspired a lot of confidence in his play. He's yet to start four consecutive games, so it's unclear if he'll get the nod Thursday at home versus the Predators.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Making third consecutive start

Skinner will tend the home twine versus the Islanders on Tuesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Skinner made 17 saves on 20 shots in a 7-3 win over Vancouver in his last start. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent through the early portion of the campaign, and over his last six appearances, he's alternated wins and losses. The 6-foot-4 netminder has posted a 4-5-1 record, .883 save percentage, 3.25 GAA and one shutout through 10 appearances. Skinner will face an Islanders squad that ranks 28th in the league with 2.47 goals per game over 15 contests.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Wins with plenty of support

Skinner allowed three goals on 20 shots in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Canucks. Skinner didn't perform well, but the Oilers' offense put up a season-high seven goals to lift him to victory. The 26-year-old goaltender has three wins in his last five outings, but he's allowed 14 goals in that span. He's 4-5-1 with a 3.25 GAA and an .883 save percentage over 10 starts. Skinner started consecutive games for the first time since a stretch of three straight outings from Oct. 19-25, but a pair of back-to-back sets in that span likely led to an increased workload for Calvin Pickard. The Oilers don't have any back-to-backs next week, and the team hosts the low-scoring Islanders on Tuesday.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Facing Canucks

Skinner will be between the visiting pipes in Vancouver on Saturday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports. Skinner gave up three goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Vegas. The loss gave Skinner a 3-5-1 start, along with a 3.28 GAA and an .885 save percentage. Skinner also got off to a slow start last season before rebounding and ending the regular season with a 36-16-5 record, 2.62 GAA and .905 save percentage. He will not have an easy time with the Canucks, who are 7-2-3 this season, though they have struggled at home, going 1-1-3.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: In goal Wednesday

Skinner will be between the pipes at home versus the Golden Knights on Wednesday, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports. Skinner has struggled for consistency this season, posting a 3-4-1 record, 3.31 GAA and .881 save percentage in eight appearances. Considering Calvin Pickard's numbers -- 2.60 GAA and 3-2-0 record -- have been marginally better, the 26-year-old Skinner could see his opportunities start to dwindle in the coming days if he doesn't find his game.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Fends off Flames

Skinner stopped 29 of 31 shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Flames. The Oilers squandered a 2-0 lead, but Zach Hyman's go-ahead goal on the power play in the third period put them ahead for good. Skinner has yet to win consecutive contests this season, but he's earned a victory in two of his last three outings. He's now 3-4-1 with a 3.31 GAA and an .881 save percentage over eight starts. Calvin Pickard will likely start Monday versus the Devils, but Skinner should be back between the pipes for Wednesday's Pacific Division showdown against the Golden Knights.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Starting in Calgary

Skinner will defend the road net Sunday versus the Flames, according to Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels. During his last outing, Skinner allowed six goals on 25 shots in a 6-1 loss to Columbus on Monday. He has a 2-4-1 record with one shutout, a 3.51 GAA and an .872 save percentage through seven appearances this campaign. Calgary sits 21st in the league with 2.91 goals per game in 2024-25.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Jolted by Jackets

Skinner turned aside 19 shots in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Blue Jackets. The Oilers lost Connor McDavid to a lower-body injury early in the first period, and the team never recovered. While Skinner was coming off a shutout of the Penguins on Friday, that was the only start this season in which he's given up fewer than three goals, leaving him with a shaky 3.51 GAA and .872 save percentage to go along with a 2-4-1 record.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Facing Columbus

Skinner will guard the road goal Monday versus the Blue Jackets, per Oilers play-by-by announcer Jack Michaels. Skinner will get the second half of Edmonton's back-to-back after Calvin Pickard plays in Sunday's road matchup against Detroit. The 25-year-old Skinner has a 2-3-1 record this season with one shutout, a 3.06 GAA and an .890 save percentage through six appearances. Columbus has accounted for 27 goals over seven games this campaign.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Shuts out Penguins

Skinner posted a 27-save shutout in Friday's 4-0 win over the Penguins. Skinner allowed fewer than three goals for the first time this season, as the Oilers' offense feasted on a porous Penguins defense. Skinner improved to 2-3-1 on the season, with a 3.06 GAA and an .890 save percentage after earning his fifth career shutout. The 25-year-old's role as Edmonton's top goalie hasn't been in doubt amid the team's rocky October, but his performance hasn't been great. The Oilers begin a four-game road trip in Detroit on Sunday.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Expected starter Tuesday

Skinner is slated to start at home against Carolina on Tuesday, per Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network. Skinner has gotten off to a rough start this campaign, allowing at least three goals in each of his opening four appearances. That's resulted in him posting a record of 1-3-0 with a 4.04 GAA and an .851 save percentage. Carolina is 2-2-0 and is in a three-way tie for 18th offensively with 3.00 goals per game.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Wins in overtime

Skinner stopped 27 of 30 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers. Skinner did just enough in the third period to let the Oilers get back into the game. While he's allowed at least three goals in each of his three starts, he improved to 1-2-0 with this victory. The Oilers' offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders yet, but it should be easier for Skinner to collect wins once that happens more consistently. Their next two games are on the road, with stops Thursday in Nashville and Saturday in Dallas.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Takes second loss

Skinner allowed three goals on 28 shots in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Flames. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Skinner was able to keep the game close until the Flames scored twice in the middle of the third period. It's an improvement on his season debut, which saw him chased after giving up five goals on 13 shots. The 25-year-old's slow start is reminiscent of 2023-24, when he had just one win in his first eight outings. The bigger problem has been the Oilers' offense putting up just three goals in the first three games this season. They'll host the Flyers on Tuesday.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Chased in second period

Skinner gave up five goals on 13 shots in Wednesday's 6-0 loss to the Jets before he was pulled in favor of Calvin Pickard. Skinner had a rough preseason, and that continued with this poor outing to begin the regular season, though the Jets are a decent opponent. The 25-year-old goalie carried a 3.16 GAA and an .881 save percentage over 17 games between October and November last season, so it's possible he will have another slow start this year. In addition to stopping more pucks, Skinner will need the Oilers' offense to wake up after it produced a goose egg Wednesday. Edmonton hosts Chicago on Saturday and Calgary on Sunday, so both Skinner and Pickard should get a chance to start.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Takes loss in preseason finale

Skinner stopped 22 of 25 shots in Friday's 4-1 preseason loss to the Canucks. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Skinner ends the preseason at 1-2-0 with nine goals allowed on 75 shots. That's not a particularly encouraging stat line, but the Oilers are likely to find another gear on offense once the games start to count. Skinner is far from a perfect goalie, but fantasy managers should be able to rely on him for plenty of wins and passable ratios behind one of the league's most intimidating offenses. He enters 2024-25 as the unquestioned No. 1 goalie in Edmonton for the first time in his career, and he may reach the 60-game mark this year after falling one short in 2023-24.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Starting against Vancouver

Skinner will be between the pipes for Monday's home preseason contest versus the Canucks, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Skinner will make his second appearance of the preseason -- the Alberta native stopped 23 of 27 shots in Wednesday's loss to Winnipeg. The 25-year-old is locked in as Edmonton's clear-cut No. 1 netminder heading into the 2024-25 season.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Between pipes Wednesday

Skinner will tend the twine on the road versus Winnipeg on Wednesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. Skinner has played in at least 50 regular-season games in each of the previous two campaigns, including last year's 36-win performance. The 25-year-old netminder should be in line for another heavy workload in 2024-25 and could even top the 60-game threshold to be one of the leaders in the league. If he does play that much, Skinner could top the 40-win mark as well given the offensive support around him.
