A day after he was called up by the Flyers, McDonald will return to the minors, likely so he'll be available for the AHL club's weekend series against Hershey. McDonald has yet to appear in an NHL game and will likely remain with Lehigh Valley once the Flyers resume play.

McDonald was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
McDonald was sent to the minors in late January, but he'll rejoin the NHL club to provide additional depth for at least a week in practice before the NHL season resumes Feb. 25. The 23-year-old hasn't yet made his NHL debut, and it seems likely that he'll be sent back to the minors once the Flyers resume play.

McDonald was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Monday, per the NHL media site.
McDonald was recalled from the AHL on Jan. 17 but didn't make his NHL debut during his time with the Flyers. He should have more consistent playing time with Lehigh Valley, and he's recorded five assists, 61 PIM and a plus-7 rating over 33 appearances with the Phantoms this year.

McDonald was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Philadelphia moved Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) to injured reserve in a corresponding move. McDonald has five assists and 61 PIM in 33 AHL appearances this season. The 23-year-old blueliner doesn't have any NHL experience yet.
