  • Predators' Matt Murray: Up from AHL

    Murray was called up by Nashville on Thursday, per Nick Kieser of Lower Broad Hockey. Murray has a 2.72 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 37 outings with AHL Milwaukee in 2025-26. He hasn't played in the NHL yet this campaign. It remains to be seen why Murray was called up. Juuse Saros and Justus Annunen are both currently listed as being healthy, but if either of them is dealing with something, then Murray would presumably serve as the backup goaltender for Thursday's game against Seattle.

    Murray posted a 32-save shutout in AHL Milwaukee's 4-0 win over Manitoba on Wednesday. Murray collected his third shutout of the season and the 12th of his AHL career. The strong performance improved his record to 17-17-2 with a 2.72 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 37 appearances. Murray has won his last three outings and remains next in line if the Predators need goaltending depth in the NHL.

The Predators have resumed practicing during the final week of the Olympic break, and Murray's recall will allow him to serve as the team's goaltender during practice until Juuse Saros returns from the Olympics. However, Murray will presumably head back to the Admirals ahead of Nashville's game against Chicago on Feb. 26. Over 29 appearances with Milwaukee this year, Murray has gone 12-14-2 with a 2.86 GAA and .904 save percentage.

The Stars played a strong game in front of him to make it easier for the 25-year-old, who hadn't seen any game action in over three weeks. He's mainly backed up Scott Wedgewood while Jake Oettinger (lower body) has been working his way back from an injury, but with Oettinger getting close, Murray's time in the NHL for this stint is likely soon to be over.
