Blue Jackets' Mason Marchment: On injured reserve
Marchment (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Marchment will miss at least the next three games as a result of this move -- the Blue Jackets will play in Vegas, Colorado and Utah on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. He has nine goals and 20 points in 36 appearances between Seattle and Columbus in the 2025-26 campaign. The Blue Jackets summoned Mikael Pyyhtia from AHL Cleveland in a corresponding move. Pyyhtia will provide the team with some roster flexibility and enable the Blue Jackets to plug a hole if another forward gets hurt.

Marchment scored a goal and took three shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Penguins.
Marchment was held off the scoresheet in the 5-1 win over the Sabres on Saturday, but he bounced back admirably in this one and delivered his ninth goal of the campaign with a backhander at the 8:48 mark of the first period. Marchment has scored seven of his nine goals this season over his last 10 games, so he's clearly going through his most productive stretch of the campaign, and his move from Seattle to Columbus has unlocked some extra offense for him.

Marchment broke the deadlock for the Blue Jackets at the 6:18 mark of the first period with a wrister, a goal that extended his current point streak to five games. He has four goals and two assists over that span, and the 30-year-old veteran should continue to have plenty of opportunities to keep producing as a top-line and first power-play unit member for Columbus. Blue Jackets' Mason Marchment: Flipped to Columbus
Marchment was traded to the Blue Jackets from the Kraken on Friday in exchange for a second-round and a fourth-round pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Marchment put up 13 points over 29 appearances in a brief stint with the Kraken. He was acquired from the Stars in June for a third-rounder and a fourth-rounder, so the Kraken were able to extract a little extra value out of the winger. Marchment provided the secondary helper on Jaden Schwartz's game-winning goal with less than two and a half minutes to go in the final period. Overall, the 30-year-old Marchment has eight assists, nine points, 28 shots on goal and 25 hits through 19 games this season. While his one goal and 3.6 shooting percentage have been discouraging, he has four assists over his last four games and appears to be settling into his role with the Kraken.
