He skates in a bottom-six role at even strength and has three power-play points despite limited ice time during man-advantage situations.

Heineman scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Monday's 7-5 win over the Sabres.

The 22-year-old winger has mostly played on the fourth line this season, but he's been a fairly regular presence in the lineup for the first time in his career. Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Gets top-line minutes Thursday
Heineman skated on the first line in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Washington. He logged one shot, one block and one hit over 11:29 TOI.
The TOI certainly doesn't suggest first-line minutes, but the Canadiens had six power plays, and Heineman doesn't serve on the man-advantage units. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis is attempting to make the team less top-heavy, putting Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky, two wingers that spent time with the top line, on the second line. Heineman scored a couple of goals earlier this season while skating on the fourth line. It's unclear how long St. Louis will run with this experiment.

Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Recalled from AHL
Heineman was called up from AHL Laval on Friday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Heineman played two games earlier in the season with the Habs and did not hit the scoresheet. Heineman had two goals and six points in 10 AHL games before his recall. The Canadiens are high on Heineman, who was selected in the second round, 43rd overall, by Florida in 2020, as he is a speedy winger and has some finishing skills around the net. He was recalled to replace Christian Dvorak (pectoral), who is out for the season.
