  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Notches power-play tally

Heineman scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 6-2 loss to Vegas. Heineman slightly shifted his position to open a passing lane for Joel Armia, who fed the rookie for Montreal's first goal. It was the fourth tally of the season for Heineman and his second on the power play. He skates in a bottom-six role at even strength and has three power-play points despite limited ice time during man-advantage situations.

  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Tallies in Monday's win

Heineman scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Monday's 7-5 win over the Sabres. Heineman has earned three points over five contests in November, surpassing his output from all of October. The 22-year-old winger has mostly played on the fourth line this season, but he's been a fairly regular presence in the lineup for the first time in his career. He has three goals, two assists, 20 shots on net, 34 hits, six PIM and a minus-4 rating over 15 outings.

  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Gets top-line minutes Thursday

Heineman skated on the first line in Thursday's 6-3 loss to Washington. He logged one shot, one block and one hit over 11:29 TOI. The TOI certainly doesn't suggest first-line minutes, but the Canadiens had six power plays, and Heineman doesn't serve on the man-advantage units. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis is attempting to make the team less top-heavy, putting Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky, two wingers that spent time with the top line, on the second line. Heineman scored a couple of goals earlier this season while skating on the fourth line. It's unclear how long St. Louis will run with this experiment.

  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Buries first NHL goal

Heineman scored a power-play goal while adding two shots, one block and one hit in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Senators. Heineman worked his way into an open area in the slot and buried a feed for his first NHL goal with one second left on a power play. He also picked up his second minor penalty in as many games. Heineman returned to duty on the fourth line after being a healthy scratch in Thursday's loss to Boston.

  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Cracks opening roster

Heineman has made Montreal's roster, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports. Heineman, who was acquired from Calgary as part of the Tyler Toffoli trade in February of 2022, will crack his first Opening Night roster in the NHL. He played 48 games at AHL Laval last season, posting 15 goals on 113 shots (13.3 shooting percentage) and 14 assists. Heineman is expected to open at wing on the fourth line.

  • Canadiens' Emil Heineman: Shipped back to AHL

Heineman was reassigned to AHL Laval on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Heineman was scratched Thursday versus the Sharks with Rafael Harvey-Pinard (lower body) back in action. Over his first four NHL appearances, Heineman had four hits, one blocked shots and a plus-2 rating without recording a point or a shot on goal.
