Philp (concussion) doesn't have a timetable for his return to the lineup, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Saturday.
Philp remains in concussion protocol and will miss his second straight game against Seattle on Saturday. He has appeared in two contests with the Hurricanes after being claimed off waivers from Edmonton on Dec. 29. In 17 outings between the Hurricanes and Oilers this season, he has two goals, one assist, 14 shots on net and 30 hits.

Before being waived by the Oilers on Sunday, Philp missed 18 straight games due to an upper-body injury. Edmonton intended to send him to AHL Bakersfield if he cleared, but he will instead provide the Hurricanes with some forward depth. After three games as a healthy scratch, Philp scored in his second consecutive appearance with a goal in the second period. With the tally, he is up to two goals and five shots on net in three outings. Sunday's goal was the second of his NHL career across 18 games. Philp opened the scoring at 12:21 of the second period with the first goal of his NHL career. It came in his 17th appearance, all of which have been over the last two seasons for the 27-year-old. It's been a winding path to the NHL for Philp, but he has a chance to maintain a bottom-six job early in 2025-26. However, minimal power-play time and limited usage at even strength will likely keep his scoring numbers low, and he could rotate out of the lineup for Curtis Lazar or lose his spot altogether once Jack Roslovic is ready to make his Oilers debut.
