Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Dealing with fractured ankle
Abols' injury is a fractured right ankle, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
Abols could still return in time for the last month of the regular season, though that may depend on how the Flyers are performing at the time. In any case, the 30-year-old is likely to be out at least two months. He is on injured reserve and could be transferred to long-term injured reserve if the Flyers get into a cap crunch.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Facing long-term absence
Abols (lower body) is expected to be sidelined for "months," according to head coach Rick Tocchet, but he could still return this season, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports Tuesday.
Abols was already ruled out for the Olympics and was removed from the Latvian squad. In his 42 appearances this year, the 30-year-old center has generated three goals and seven helpers while dishing out 49 hits. At this point, even if Abols does return this year, he shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Likely out until after Olympics
Abols (lower body) has been replaced on the Latvian Olympic team by Rihards Bukarts, the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation announced Monday, which suggests that Abols isn't expected to be healthy before the Winter Games.
Philadelphia put Abols on injured reserve Sunday and recalled Lane Pederson from AHL Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Abols has three goals, 10 points, 22 PIM and 49 hits in 42 appearances in 2025-26. While it seems the 30-year-old will miss the Olympics, he should resume serving in a bottom-six capacity for Philadelphia once he's healthy.

Abols (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.
In a corresponding move, Philadelphia recalled Lane Pederson from AHL Lehigh Valley. Abols sustained the injury in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Rangers. He will be out for at least the next three games, beginning with Monday's matchup against Vegas, but an exact timeline for his return is unclear. Abols has chipped in three goals, 10 points, 43 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and 49 hits through 42 outings this season.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Sweet deflection for rare goal
Abols scored a goal Thursday in a 6-3 loss to the Penguins.
Abols deflected a Cam York slap shot early in the second frame; it was his second goal of the season. It was his first goal in 12 games (five assists). The 30-year-old fourth-line center has three goals, seven assists and 43 shots in 41 games. There's limited fantasy value in his profile.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Two helpers in Monday's win
Abols pocketed two assists in Monday's 5-2 win over the Canucks.
The Flyers' new fourth line of Abols, Nikita Grebenkin and Carl Grundstrom made a surprising impact, combining for the team's first two goals of the night and five points between them. Abols has just five points on the season in 30 games, but four of them (one goal and three helpers) have come in the last six contests.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Rare goal in shootout loss
Abols scored a shorthanded goal Saturday in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Rangers.
It came on a 3-on-1 rush in the second period to give the Flyers a 4-2 lead. It was the Flyers' first shorthanded goal of the campaign. Abols has two goals and one assist in 29 games this season. He's a classic better-on-the-ice-than-in-the-fantasy-arena guy.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Plucks apple in shootout loss
Abols logged an assist in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Hurricanes.
Abols ended a 10-game point drought with the helper. The 29-year-old is currently centering the Flyers' fourth line with Carl Grundstrom and Garnet Hathaway, which has arguably been the most productive iteration of that unit this season. Abols has just two points with 22 shots on net, 29 hits, 11 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 25 appearances, so it's unlikely he'll score enough to help fantasy managers.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Gets first goal of season
Abols scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blues.
The 29-year-old forward struggled to get into the lineup early in the year, but he's played in 12 of the Flyers' last 13 games. Abols is still firmly in a fourth-line role, and that group has been virtually invisible on offense for Philadelphia so far. Abols is at one goal, 16 shots on net, 14 hits, five blocked shots, five PIM and a minus-3 rating over 14 appearances. While his production won't jump off the page, the ongoing struggles of enforcer Nicolas Deslauriers and youngster Nikita Grebenkin should be enough to keep Abols in the lineup, especially since he can play center.

Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Inks one-year extension
Abols signed a one-year, $800,000 contract extension with the Flyers on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Abols had 29 points in 46 AHL games with Lehigh Valley, as well as five points in 22 NHL contests. The 29-year-old is a bit of a late bloomer, as he got his first look in the NHL in 2024-25, but he did enough to impress the team. Abols' deal is a one-way contract, and while that's not a guarantee he'll be an NHL regular, it sets him up well to be a bottom-six option in 2025-26.

Abols logged an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Maple Leafs.
Abols snapped a six-game point drought when he helped out on a Ryan Poehling tally in the first period. The 29-year-old Abols has emerged as a bottom-six regular for the Flyers following the trade deadline, but he hasn't been particularly productive on offense. For the season, he has four points, 21 shots on net, 22 hits, 10 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 19 NHL appearances.

Abols hasn't yet made his NHL debut, but he'll join the Flyers after Ryan Poehling (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Flyers' Rodrigo Abols: Signs one-year deal
Abols signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Saturday, Bill Meltzer of NHL.com reports.
Abols was originally selected by Vancouver with the No. 184 pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He spent just one season in the Florida organization before returning to Europe for the 2020-21 campaign. The 28-year-old forward had 14 goals and 26 points in 50 regular-season games with Rogle of the SHL in 2023-24 and was productive in the playoffs with five goals and 12 points in 15 contests. He will probably start the 2024-25 season at the AHL level with Lehigh Valley.
