Top Connor McMichael News

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: One of each in win

McMichael scored a goal on three shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.

McMichael's first-period tally stood as the game-winner, and he also set up a Justin Sourdif goal in the second. The goal snapped a 13-game stretch without one, though McMichael has heated up with seven helpers over his last six outings as well. The 24-year-old is now at six goals, 21 assists, 88 shots on net and a plus-7 rating across 45 appearances in a middle-six role this season.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Piles up four helpers Monday

McMichael notched four assists in Monday's 7-4 win over the Ducks.

The 24-year-old had a hand in each of the Capitals' first four goals, including Justin Sourdif's first career hat trick. McMichael hasn't gotten onto the scoresheet in consecutive games since late November, making him a risky DFS play, but his overall numbers -- five goals and 25 points in 43 contests with 82 shots on net and a plus-6 rating -- have some value in deeper season-long formats.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Two helpers against Blueshirts

McMichael picked up two assists in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.

Both helpers came on Tom Wilson tallies in the second and third periods. McMichael hasn't been able to get on the scoresheet in consecutive games since late November, and on the season he's managed five goals and 21 points in 40 contests.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Two points against Canes

McMichael scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Hurricanes.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring early in the second period before having a hand in a Nic Dowd tally midway through the third. McMichael had a rough start to the season offensively, but over the last 14 games he's gotten rolling with four goals and 13 points as he looks to show his 2024-25 breakout wasn't a fluke.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Three-game, four-point streak

McMichael scored a goal and an assist in Friday's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs.

McMichael notched the Caps' first goal. It was a backhander past Joseph Woll in the second period to pull the team within 2-1. McMichael is on a three-game, four-point scoring streak (two goals, two assists and 14 shots). The young pivot has struggled to find his offensive groove this year after putting up 26 goals and 57 points in 82 regular-season games last year. The goal was McMichael's fourth of the season.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Nets game-winner Wednesday

McMichael scored a goal on six shots in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Jets.

McMichael's unassisted tally at 5:25 of the third period stood as the game-winner. He has two goals and six assists over his last seven contests, a stretch that has helped to get his season back on track after a slow start. The 24-year-old forward is up to three goals, 12 points, 52 shots on net and a plus-2 rating over 24 appearances.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Three helpers against Edmonton

McMichael picked up three assists with two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Oilers.

McMichael outdueled Connor McDavid, who had two assists during Thursday's matchup. McMichael is in the midst of a modest three-game point streak in which he's produced a goal and six points, but overall he's having trouble making the pace from his breakout 2024-25 campaign. Through 20 games in 2025-26, McMichael has two goals and 10 points.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Ends drought Saturday

McMichael had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Devils.

McMichael found the back of the net with a snap shot in the third period and also assisted on Alex Ovechkin's equalizer. This two-point output snapped McMichael's five-game pointless streak, and he also found the back of the net for the first time since Oct. 24. McMichael will continue to have opportunities to produce as long as he skates on the first line alongside Ovechkin and Dylan Strome, but McMichael's lack of production has limited his upside considerably.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Earns two points in Friday's win

McMichael scored a power-play goal on two shots and added an assist in Friday's 5-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

It's been a poor start to the season for McMichael, but the Capitals haven't needed to adjust too much since they're off to a 6-2-0 start as a team. With Friday's performance, the 24-year-old has three points, 20 shots on net, four hits, three blocked shots and four PIM through eight outings. He broke out to the tune of 26 goals and 57 points over 82 regular-season contests last year, but he'll need to pick up the pace significantly to get back to that level in 2025-26.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Seeing-eye pass sets up line mate

McMichael picked up an assist Tuesday in a 3-2 OT win over Tampa Bay.

His assist was a thing of beauty. He nabbed a dump-in, and as he was about to carry it behind and around the net, McMichael passed back to Aliaksei Protas, who wired a one-timer into the open left side of the net. McMichael's off to a slow start this season and has one assist in four contests after recording 57 points and 177 shots in 82 regular-season games last year. He'll be fine.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Gets fourth goal of postseason

McMichael scored a goal in a 3-1 win over Carolina on Thursday in Game 2.

It was a strange goal. Carolina's Sean Walker attempted a dump-in but hit his teammate Shayne Gostisbehere in the face. McMichael grabbed the loose puck and took off, skating in alone on Frederik Andersen and firing the puck right shelf to put the Capitals up 1-0. It was his fourth goal of the postseason; he has six points and 16 shots in seven games. McMichael took a big step forward during the regular season with 57 points, including 26 goals, in 82 games, and he has continued that effort into the postseason.

McMichael logged an assist, four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens in Game 4.

The 24-year-old McMichael has regained a scoring touch in the postseason with three goals on 12 shots, one assist, three hits and a plus-3 rating over four outings. He's in a top-six role and should continue to be a steady source of offense throughout the playoffs.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Scores two goals in win

McMichael scored two goals, including an empty-netter, in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Canadiens in Game 2.

McMichael evened things up for the Capitals shortly after Christian Dvorak broke the deadlock in the second period, and he closed the scoring with an empty-netter in the final seconds of the contest. McMichael scored 26 goals across 82 regular-season appearances. While his decrease in production down the stretch was a concern for fantasy managers heading into the playoffs -- he recorded just one goal in his final 12 regular-season contests -- this might be the spark he needs to remain productive as a top-six forward and member of the second power-play unit.

  • Capitals' Connor McMichael: Tickles twine in loss

McMichael scored a goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Penguins.

McMichael opened the scoring at 4:08 of the first period, but the Capitals' lead didn't even last a minute before Bryan Rust tied the game. McMichael ended his 11-game goal drought, a span in which he had two assists, 21 shots on net and a minus-8 rating. For the season, he's produced 26 goals, 57 points, 177 shots on net and a plus-19 rating over 82 appearances, though his late fade on offense is a mild concern heading into the postseason.
