Predators' Justus Annunen: Inks two-year extension
Annunen signed a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension with the Predators on Monday.
Annunen was traded to Nashville early last season, and he's served as the Predators' backup netminder during the 2025-26 campaign. He's gone 3-5-1 with a 3.29 GAA and .875 save percentage over 12 appearances this year, and he'll now remain under contract with the Predators through the 2027-28 season.

Annunen stopped 16 of 17 shots on net in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
Annunen was 37 seconds away from his first shutout of the season before he surrendered New York's lone goal of the night to Jonny Brodzinski. With the win, Annunen is up to a 2-5-1 record with a 3.43 GAA and an .866 save percentage through 11 appearances this season. His performance Sunday was one of his best this season, showcasing a flash of the skill he displayed early on last season. While he sits firmly behind Juuse Saros on the depth chart, Annunen has played better as of late, with his two wins this season coming in his last four starts. He could be in for a few extra starts if his decent run of play continues, but it is currently best to look elsewhere for a goaltender in fantasy. While Saros will likely start the next two games for the Predators, Annunen could see work early next week with the team set to play three games in four days between Dec. 29 and Jan. 1.

Predators' Justus Annunen: Drawing start Sunday
Annunen will be between the home pipes against the Rangers on Sunday, according to Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.
Annunen hasn't gotten in the win column since Nov. 26 in Detroit, as he's 0-2-0 with a 3.30 GAA and an .897 save percentage over his last three appearances. The Rangers will be without J.T. Miller (upper body) on Sunday, and Gabe Perreault and Matt Rempe are late scratches due to illness. New York has won back-to-back contests following a two-game losing streak.

Annunen stopped 37 of 40 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Avalanche. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Annunen gave up the first two goals of the game, and Victor Olofsson's tally in the middle of the second period sent the Finnish netminder to a loss. Annunen has allowed 13 goals on 109 shots over his last five outings (three starts). For the season, he's just 1-5-1 with a 3.73 GAA and an .865 save percentage. His poor play and Juuse Saros' recent improvements have led to Saros getting the bulk of the starts for Nashville lately. The Predators were fortunate to force overtime, with Steven Stamkos scoring in the final second of regulation. The officials and NHL situation room determined that Annunen dislodged the net when Marcus Johansson had an imminent scoring chance, resulting in an awarded goal at 3:38 of overtime.
