Stars' Blake Comeau: Passes through waivers unclaimed
Comeau cleared waivers Friday and is expected to report to AHL Texas, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The 35-year-old has 334 points in 909 NHL contests, so it was surprising to see him waived and then pass through unclaimed. Comeau hasn't played a non-NHL professional contest since a 19-game AHL stint in 2008-09.

Comeau will get to make his season debut after missing the opening six contests with an upper-body injury. The 35-year-old winger figures to slot into a fourth-line role and shouldn't be expected to see much in the way of power-play minutes, making him a low-end fantasy option with a ceiling likely in the 20-25 point range. In order to activate Comeau off injured reserve, the team reassigned Jacob Peterson to AHL Texas.

Stars' Blake Comeau: Secures one-year deal
Comeau inked a one-year, $1 million contract with Dallas on Monday.
For the third straight season, Comeau failed to reach the 20-point mark and appears to have become more of a bottom-six role player than the 30-point, 20-goal scorer he was in previous stops in his career. Given his reduced minutes and lack of power-play opportunities, the 35-year-old Comeau figures to offer low-range fantasy value, at best, heading into the 2021-22 campaign.
