  • Blues' Ryan Suter: Big two-assist outing

Suter picked up two assists Saturday in a 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Suter won't deliver many points this season, but Saturday was a great day for the man who will be 40 come January. He plays a savvy game that compensates for his lack of foot speed, and while that won't often translate into points, it will help the Blues as the team pushes for a potential return to the postseason.

  • Blues' Ryan Suter: Generates helper in loss

Suter logged an assist, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Canadiens. Since Nick Leddy (lower body) landed on injured reserve, Suter has turned back the clock to fill a top-pairing role. He's exceeded 21 minutes of ice time in five straight games, going plus-6 in that span. The 39-year-old defenseman has just two points through nine games, but he's added 12 shots on net, 15 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating. Suter isn't a factor on the power play, however, as those duties have gone to Justin Faulk and Philip Broberg.

  • Blues' Ryan Suter: Contributes goal in comeback

Suter scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Sharks. Suter brought the Blues within a goal by scoring at 6:11 of the third period. The 39-year-old produced just 17 points in 82 regular-season outings in 2023-24 with the Stars before he was bought out this summer. For now, he's a regular on the Blues' third pairing, but Pierre-Olivier Joseph or Scott Perunovich could push him for that spot if Suter's play slips. In addition to his goal, he has four shots on net and two blocked shots over the first two games of 2024-25.

  • Blues' Ryan Suter: Links up with St. Louis

Suter signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Blues on Wednesday. Suter was bought out by the Stars in June, the second time he's been bought out since 2021. The 39-year-old defenseman has the ability to earn an additional $2.225 million in performance bonuses. Suter remains capable as a third-pairing defenseman, but after posting 17 points in 82 regular-season contests last year, there is virtually no upside in his game for fantasy purposes.

  • Ryan Suter: Set for buyout

Suter will be bought out of the last year of his contract by the Stars, Jeff Marek of Sportsnet reports Thursday. Suter is still on the books for the Wild after they previously bought out his contract and will now potentially be costing three different clubs cap space -- assuming he signs elsewhere when the free-agent window opens Monday. During his three-year stint with the Stars, the veteran defenseman played all 246 regular-season games, in which he tallied 12 goals and 62 assists. Given his age, the Madison, Wisconsin native could also opt to hang up his skates rather than extend his career.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Logs assist in Game 2 win

Suter notched an assist in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Oilers in Game 2. Suter had a shot redirected in by Mason Marchment at 3:41 of the third period, and that goal was the game-winner. The helper snapped Suter's six-game point drought. The defenseman has been a depth player for the Stars with four points, eight shots on net, 15 blocked shots, 14 hits and a plus-4 rating over 15 playoff outings.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Helpers in consecutive games

Suter picked up an assist and two PIM in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4. Suter has a helper in each of the last two games after enduring a 12-game slump. The 39-year-old blueliner set up Evgenii Dadonov's first-period marker from a tight angle. Suter will likely continue to see limited ice time in a third-pairing role, though he'll often rotate with different blueliners since Nils Lundkvist is receiving few shifts in close games.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Snaps slump Saturday

Suter produced an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Golden Knights in Game 3. After finishing the regular season with a 10-game point drought, Suter got his first point of the playoffs with a secondary helper on Wyatt Johnston's overtime winner. The 39-year-old Suter has added just three hits, three blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-3 rating with no shots on net over three postseason outings. He'll remain in a third-pairing role, but his ice time is likely to be limited as long as he skates alongside Nils Lundkvist, who has seen minimal usage in the playoffs.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Garners helper in win

Suter notched an assist, three shots on goal and two blocked shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Coyotes. Suter has found a little pocket of offense lately, picking up three assists over his last four games. The 39-year-old defenseman had just four points over the 19 contests immediately after the All-Star break, so his recent performance is unlikely to be a sign of things to come down the stretch. Overall, the veteran blueliner is at 17 points, 91 shots on net, 100 blocked shots, 75 hits and a plus-11 rating through 72 appearances.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Adds assist Wednesday

Suter notched an assist and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Coyotes. Suter has a helper in each of the last two contests after going 12 games without a point. The 39-year-old's chances on offense are likely to remain limited in a third-pairing role with virtually no power-play time. Suter has struggled with 16 points through 70 outings on the year, adding 97 blocked shots, 74 hits, 87 shots on goal and a plus-11 rating.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Logs helper in win

Suter notched an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Kings. Suter snapped a 12-game point drought when he set up Wyatt Johnston's goal in the first period. The 39-year-old Suter has been on the third pairing for much of the last month, giving him fewer chances to contribute on offense. The defenseman is at just 15 points with 86 shots on net, 97 blocked shots, 74 hits and a plus-9 rating over 69 appearances this season.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Pots goal Monday

Suter scored a goal on five shots, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Bruins. Suter's goal was his second of the season. He's earned four points over his last six outings. Nils Lundkvist (concussion) and Jani Hakanpaa (upper body) are not traveling with the Stars, and Miro Heiskanen (personal) was unavailable Monday, opening the door for Suter to see bigger minutes in all situations. While it may be a temporary change, it could help the 39-year-old blueliner kick-start his offense. He's at 14 points, 74 shots on net, 56 hits, 77 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating through 56 appearances.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Dishes two helpers in big win

Suter posted two assists and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 9-2 win over the Predators. Suter has three assists over five games since the All-Star break. While that's solid production, it's unlikely to be sustainable given he has just 13 points in 54 outings overall. He's added 68 shots on goal, 75 blocked shots, 56 hits and a plus-9 rating. The 39-year-old spent much of the first half of the season on the top pairing with Miro Heiskanen, but a drop to the third pairing with no power-play time leaves Suter outside the range of fantasy viability in most formats.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Adds assist Wednesday

Suter notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Maple Leafs. Suter reached the 10-assist mark when he helped out on the first of Evgenii Dadonov's two goals in the game. The helper snapped a five-game point drought for Suter, who had just three assists over 14 outings in January. The 39-year-old blueliner is at 11 points, 67 shots on net, 69 blocked shots, 43 hits and a plus-5 rating through 51 appearances. With Thomas Harley on the top pairing, Suter has seen his role reduced significantly in a third-pairing role.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Notches two helpers in win

Suter provided a pair of assists, two hits and four PIM in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Devils. Suter has managed three assists with a plus-8 rating and 22 blocked shots over 10 games in January. His ice time has dropped with Miro Heiskanen (lower body) out of the lineup, as Suter moved from the top pairing to a third-pairing role. Suter is at 10 points, 58 shots on net, 64 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating through 45 contests.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Supplies assist in win

Suter logged an assist, three blocked shots and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Wild. Suter -- who is still on the Wild's payroll after a buyout in 2021 -- was able to get a little revenge against his former team with one of his best outings of the season. The defenseman has two points and a plus-9 rating over his last six games. He's seen less ice time since his regular defense partner, Miro Heiskanen, suffered a lower-body injury. Suter is at eight points, 54 shots on net and 53 blocked shots through 40 outings but may be best suited for a bottom-four role at this stage in his career.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Nets first goal of campaign

Suter scored a goal on three shots and went plus-3 in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Blackhawks. Suter went 12 games without a point over the bulk of December -- his last point was an assist in the first contest of the month. His goal Sunday was his first tally all season. The 38-year-old is at a meager seven points with 52 shots on net, 42 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 35 appearances. He still sees top-pairing minutes most of the time, but he could lose that spot to Thomas Harley if head coach Pete DeBoer shakes things up on the blue line.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Ends dry spell

Suter logged an assist, three shots on goal and a plus-3 rating in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Lightning. Suter ended his six-game point drought with a secondary helper on Thomas Harley's third-period tally. The 38-year-old Suter had just two assists over 14 games in November despite seeing top-pairing minutes throughout the month. He's at six helpers, 33 shots on net, 27 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 22 contests overall. With minimal power-play time, Suter's a non-factor in most fantasy formats.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Logs assist Tuesday

Suter produced an assist, two shots on goal and two PIM in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Coyotes. Suter helped out on Tyler Seguin's game-tying goal with 3:20 left in the third period. With two helpers over his last three games, Suter is starting to get more involved on offense. The 38-year-old defenseman has five assists, 21 shots on net, 22 blocked shots, 14 hits, eight PIM and a plus-3 rating through 15 contests in a top-four role. His offense figures to be limited by a lack of power-play time since Nils Lundkvist has quarterbacked the second unit this season.

  • Stars' Ryan Suter: Earns helper Saturday

Suter logged an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Jets. Suter snapped his five-game point drought with the helper. The 38-year-old remains on the Stars' top pairing, though he's more of a defense-only presence while Miro Heiskanen roams the ice. Suter has just four assists with 18 shots on net, 19 blocked shots, 11 hits and a plus-2 rating through 13 contests. He may have some depth value in formats that reward non-scoring production.
