Padres' Freddy Fermin: Avoids arbitration with San Diego
Fermin signed a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Padres on Thursday to avoid arbitration.
Fermin was traded by the Royals to the Padres in late July, and across both clubs he posted a .636 OPS with one steal, 32 runs, 13 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBI over 347 plate appearances during the 2025 regular season. The 30-year-old projects to be the Padres No. 1 catcher by Opening Day of the 2026 season while Luis Campusano serves as the backup.

Padres' JP Sears: Gets deal with San Diego
Sears signed a one-year contract with the Padres on Thursday to avoid arbitration.
Sears was a regular part of the Athletics' rotation before being shipped to the Padres in late July, after which point he was sent back and forth between Triple-A and the majors. He ended the 2025 regular season with a 5.04 ERA and 1.32 WHIP -- both career worsts -- across 135.2 innings, and his spot in the Padres' rotation could be shaky if he gets off to a slow start in 2026.

Padres' Mason Miller: Avoids arbitration with Padres
Miller signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Padres on Thursday to avoid arbitration.
The terms of the deal have yet to be announced, though Miller was projected at $3.3 million in his first year of arbitration, per Spotrac.com. Miller opened the 2025 regular season with the Athletics before being traded to the Padres in July, and between both teams he posted a 2.63 ERA, 0.91 WHIP 10 holds, 22 saves (out of 26 opportunities) and a 104:28 K:BB across 61.2 innings. Miller served in a high-leverage role out of the Padres bullpen after being the Athletics' top closer. However, with Robert Suarez signing with Atlanta during the offseason, Miller figures to be San Diego's closer for the 2026 campaign.

Padres' Jason Adam: Avoids arbitration with San Diego
Adam (quadriceps) signed a one-year, $6.7 million contract with the Padres on Thursday to avoid arbitration.
Adam earned his first All-Star selection in 2025, and he finished the regular season with a 1.93 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 30 holds (tied for fifth most in the majors) and a 70:25 K:BB across 65.1 innings. His 2025 campaign came to an abrupt halt in September after rupturing a tendon in his left quadriceps. After undergoing surgery that requires a recovery timeline of 6-to-9 months, the 34-year-old right-hander is expected to start the 2026 season on the injured list. However, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune in early December, Adam is expected to be ready to throw off a mound in spring training and may not need a lengthy stint on the IL.

Padres' Adrian Morejon: Settles with San Diego
The Padres and Morejon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $3.9 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
It was the final year of arbitration eligibility for Morejon, who is slated to become a free agent next offseason. The left-hander has posted a 2.42 ERA and 141:38 K:BB over 137.1 regular-season innings as a full-time reliever since the start of the 2024 campaign. He'll again serve in a high-leverage role in 2026.

Padres' Gavin Sheets: Gets $4.5 million from Padres
Sheets and the Padres avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.5 million contract Thursday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Sheets enjoyed a resurgence at the plate during his first year with the Padres, slashing .252/.317/.429 while setting new career highs with 19 homers, 71 RBI and 57 runs scored across 545 regular-season plate appearances. He'll be rewarded with a $2.9 million raise from the club and figures to remain as San Diego's primary DH in 2026.

Padres' D.J. Snelten: Signs MiLB deal with Padres
The Padres signed Snelten to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Ari Alexander of WHDH 7News in Boston reports.
Snelten -- whose fastball recently touched triple digits in a throwing session -- signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox last offseason but never pitched for them (or anyone else). The 33-year-old left-hander spent the 2024 campaign in the Mexican League, and his lone major-league experience came back in 2018.

Padres' Jose Miranda: Inks minors deal with Padres
The Padres signed Miranda to a minor-league contract Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports.
Miranda showed promise at times while with the Twins, but he crashed out in 2025, going 6-for-36 with the big club and slashing only .195/.272/.296 across 371 plate appearances at Triple-A St. Paul. Still, the 27-year-old is a solid get on a minor-league contract, and there's a non-zero chance he pushes for playing time at first base in San Diego.

Padres' Sung-Mun Song: Nets three-year deal with Padres
The Padres signed Song to a three-year, $13 million contract Friday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
The Padres will also owe a posting fee to the Kiwoom Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization. Song, 29, slashed .315/.387/.530 with 26 homers and 25 steals in 2025 for the Heroes. He primarily played third base for Kiwoom, but with Manny Machado manning that spot for the Padres, Song should see more action at second base and first base, where he also has experience.

Padres' Michael King: Returns to San Diego
King agreed to a one-year contract with the Padres on Thursday that includes player options for 2027 and 2028, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
King had two excellent seasons with the Padres in 2024 and 2025 and passed on a qualifying offer with the team earlier in the offseason, but he'll ultimately remain with San Diego. According to Feinsand, King will make $17 million in 2025 and will net at least another $5 million in the form of a buyout for the 2027 option. His player options for 2027 and 2028 are worth $28 million and $30 million, respectively. Assuming King can avoid any lingering issues with his shoulder -- which cost him much of the 2025 season -- he should headline the Padres' rotation in 2026.

Padres' Triston McKenzie: Invited to Padres' camp
McKenzie signed a minor-league contract with the Padres on Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports
McKenzie gave up seven earned runs over 5.2 innings with the Guardians this past season before being outrighted to the minor leagues in late April. His performance didn't improve following his demotion, as he turned in a 7.40 ERA and 2.13 WHIP over 20.2 frames split between rookie ball and Triple-A. He'll now attempt to revive his career with the Padres, but he will likely have to prove he can handle minor-league hitters again before getting a shot with the big club.

Padres' Blake Hunt: Signs MiLB pact with Padres
The Padres signed Hunt to a minor-league contract Tuesday.
Hunt spent the 2025 season at Triple-A Tacoma in the Mariners organization, slashing .272/.368/.452 with eight home runs in 68 contests. The 27-year-old was up in the big leagues briefly with the Orioles in 2024 but is still looking to make his major-league debut. Hunt was originally selected by the Padres in the second round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft before being traded to the Rays in the Blake Snell deal.

Padres' Yu Darvish: Undecided on future post-surgery
Darvish (elbow) said Monday that he's unsure whether he will continue his baseball career after completing rehab for his November UCL repair with an internal brace and flexor tendon surgery, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Darvish will miss the entire 2026 season and will be 40 years old heading into the 2027 campaign. He's owed $30 million between 2027 and 2028, so while he has financial incentive to continue pitching, the right-hander is currently focused on his rehab and will make a decision about his playing career at a later date. Darvish posted a 5.38 ERA and 68:19 K:BB over 72 regular-season innings covering 15 starts for the Padres in 2025.
