  • Colts' Easton Stick: Finds a new team

Stick signed with the Colts on Monday.

The quarterback spent the 2025 campaign in Atlanta, rising from the practice squad following Michael Penix's late-season knee injury, though Stick never appeared in a regular-season game. Stick last saw action in 2023 with the Chargers, when he played in five games and finished with 1,129 yards and three touchdowns against one interception. The fifth-round pick of the Chargers in 2019 is likely competing for a backup role again, this time behind Indianapolis' projected starter, Daniel Jones (Achilles).

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: Serving as No. 2 quarterback

Atlanta signed Stick off its practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

Head coach Raheem Morris confirmed Wednesday that Stick will step in as Atlanta's new No. 2 quarterback, with Kirk Cousins elevating into the starting role after Michael Penix (knee) was officially placed on injured reserve after sustaining a season-ending partial tear of his ACL in this past Sunday's 30-27 overtime loss to Carolina. Stick's last NFL action came with the Chargers in 2023, when he appeared in five games and threw for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while adding 144 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground.

  • Easton Stick: Back with practice squad

Stick reverted to the Falcons' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Stick operated as the team's backup quarterback behind Kirk Cousins in Sunday's 34-10 loss to Miami, failing to enter the game. The quarterback could be elevated to the active roster again in Week 9 versus the Patriots if Michael Penix (knee) remains unavailable.

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: Elevated for Week 8

The Falcons elevated Stick from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.

It's the first time this season that Stick will be elevated from the Falcons' practice squad. His elevation comes as the Falcons expect Michael Penix to miss Sunday's game against the Dolphins due to a knee contusion, which puts Kirk Cousins in position to make his first start since Week 15 of the 2024 season while Stick serves as the backup. Stick last saw regular-season action in 2023 as a member of the Chargers, when he completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and one interception while turning 27 carries into 144 yards and a score across five games (four starts).

  • Easton Stick: Practice squad QB for Atlanta

The Falcons signed Stick to the practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.

The Falcons opted to go with two quarterbacks on the main roster with Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins, so Stick will start the season on the team's practice squad. Stick finished the preseason completing 69.2 percent of his passes for 520 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions while adding five carries for 32 yards across three games.

  • Easton Stick: Let go by Atlanta

The Falcons released Stick on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Stick was unable to force the Falcons to keep a third quarterback behind Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins after completing 54 of 78 pass attempts for 520 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions this preseason. The 29-year-old could be a candidate to rejoin the team via the practice squad.

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: Uneven effort in preseason finale

Stick completed 20 of 28 passes for 198 yards and a touchdown with an interception in Friday's 31-13 preseason loss to the Cowboys. He added 18 rushing yards on three carries.

The veteran backup QB played into the fourth quarter in Atlanta's final exhibition contest, as both Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins were held out. Stick did lead the offense into scoring position on three of five first-half drives, but a missed field goal cost the Falcons some points, and his final pass of the night got picked off. Barring a sudden end to the Cousins saga via trade or an injury, Stick will head into the regular season third on the depth chart and unlikely to see snaps.

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: Primed for final preseason start

Stick is positioned to start Atlanta's preseason finale against the Cowboys on Friday with Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins both in line to sit out, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Stick has been serviceable across two preseason starts so far, completing a combined 34 of 50 attempts for 322 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He's also rushed twice for 14 yards. The 29-year-old is expected to enter the regular season as the Falcons' third quarterback behind Penix and Cousins, and with Atlanta having waived/injured Emory Jones (concussion) on Monday, it will be new signee Ben DiNucci who enters Friday's preseason finale in relief of Stick.

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: Gets extended run Friday

Stick completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 173 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing twice for 14 yards in Friday's preseason loss to the Titans.

Stick got off to a rough start when he threw a pick-six in the first quarter before settling down with a pair of touchdown drives in the second half. The 29-year-old got extra playing time after fellow backup Emory Jones exited following a big hit late in the contest. Jones' health will now be a factor in the competition for Atlanta's third quarterback gig, with Stick taking the early lead based on production. Expect Stick to get more run in the Falcons' preseason finale against the Cowboys next Friday.

  • Falcons' Easton Stick: In line for exhibition start

Stick is slated to start Friday's preseason game versus the Titans, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The Falcons are keeping QBs Michael Penix and Kirk Cousins on the sideline for a second straight exhibition, allowing Stick another chance to lead the offense. Last Friday against the Lions, Stick completed 15 of 18 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown in one half of work. A similar workload likely is in the offing for Stick before he hands things off to Emory Jones for the rest of the contest.
