Lewis Bond: Catches on with Houston's practice squad
The Texans signed Bond to their practice squad Monday.
The rookie sixth-round pick out of Boston College was unable to secure a spot on the Texans' 53-man roster coming out of training camp, but after clearing waivers, he'll end up sticking around in the organization. The Texans have also added fellow receivers Mitchell Tinsley, Josh Kelly and Daniel Sobkowicz on the practice squad, so Bond may not necessarily rank as the top choice to get elevated to the roster if Houston requires another wideout in any given week.

Texans' Lewis Bond: Three targets Thursday
Bond caught two of his three targets for 12 yards in Thursday night's 22-20 preseason loss to the Raiders.
Bond was targeted only three times, but he participated in 47 percent of the Texans' offensive snaps. The sixth-round rookie had a strong performance in OTAs and appears to be getting a healthy dose of preseason snaps to continue to prove himself. With Jayden Higgins (knee) being placed on season-ending injured reserve, Bond may have a chance to see consistent snaps at wide receiver during the regular season.

Texans' Lewis Bond: Makes noise during OTAs
Bond, who was a sixth-round selection in April's NFL Draft, "turned heads" during OTAs, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
Bond was part of the second-team offense during practice sessions and "made plays," per Bien-Aime. Of course, it's still very early in the offseason, but Bond certainly didn't hurt his chances of making the season-opening 53-man roster with his initial impression. Still, Brett Coomer of the Houston Chronicle projects the Boston College product to be on the roster bubble given the Texans' crowded wide-receiver room.

Texans' Lewis Bond: Picked by Texans
The Texans selected Bond in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 204th overall.
Bond (5-foot-11, 197 pounds) is likely a slot receiver to the Texans after a Boston College career where he provided quality underneath receiving production but little in the way of big plays. Bond's reliable hands could prove useful to the Texans. It just would probably require some injuries at receiver first.
