  • Jerome Ford: Inks deal with Minnesota's practice squad

Ford was signed to the Vikings' practice squad Wednesday, Lindsey Young of the team's official website reports.

Ford was in Minnesota for a workout Tuesday with the team, and he will now have the opportunity join the practice squad. The running back was let go by the Commanders with an injury settlement in late August after suffering a hamstring injury, but he is now back to full health. Ford recorded 73 yards on 24 carries while catching 26 of 32 targets for 103 yards over 13 regular-season contests with Cleveland in 2025, and he'll now look to earn an elevation to the active roster down the road with the Vikings.

  • Jerome Ford: Gets look from Minnesota

The Vikings hosted Ford (hamstring) for a workout Tuesday, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.

Ford suffered a hamstring injury during training camp with the Commanders. He's healthy enough to participate in a workout, and he could latch on with the Vikings if Jordan Mason misses time due to a thumb injury he sustained against the Packers in Week 1. Ford, a fifth-round selection of the Browns in the 2022 NFL Draft, spent the first four years of his career with Cleveland, and he logged 24 carries for 73 yards (3.0 YPC) while adding 26 catches (on 32 targets) for 103 yards across 13 regular-season games in 2025.

  • Jerome Ford: Let go with injury settlement

The Commanders released Ford (hamstring) on an injury settlement Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Washington previously placed Ford on injured reserve Tuesday due to an undisclosed issue, which John Keim of ESPN.com relays was a hamstring injury. The running back would have had to miss the entire season had he remained on injured reserve, but after reaching an injury settlement with Washington, he's now free to sign with a team once he's fully healthy. Ford spent the 2025 campaign with the Browns, appearing in 13 games and carrying 24 times for 73 yards (3.0 average) to go with 26 catches for 103 yards.

  • Commanders' Jerome Ford: Lands on IR

Ford (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Commanders on Tuesday.

The former Brown will miss the season due to an injury unless he is released with an injury settlement. Ford was brought in during free agency for backfield and kick return depth.

  • Commanders' Jerome Ford: Participating in spring practices

Ford (shoulder) has been practicing, Zach Selby of commanders.com reports.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, on the other hand, has been absent from recent practices with a soft-tissue injury. It sounds like Rachaad White has been getting a lot of the first-team snaps, but Ford is also getting some work alongside QB Jayden Daniels. While not necessarily a standout in either role, Ford theoretically could fill in for either Croskey-Merritt on early downs or White on passing downs. However, Ford got only $437,500 guaranteed on his one-year, $1.4 million contract, leaving him at risk of missing out on the Week 1 roster if things don't go well this summer. The Commanders also have sixth-round pick Kaytron Allen and 30-year-old Jeremy McNichols competing for roster spots. There's been no hint of trouble with the shoulder injury that ended Ford's 2025 campaign in Cleveland.

  • Commanders' Jerome Ford: Heading to Washington

Ford (shoulder) and the Commanders agreed to terms on a one-year contract Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Ford will call Washington his new home after spending the first four years of his NFL career in Cleveland. His most productive year with the Browns was in 2023, when he produced 1,132 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns across 17 regular-season games, though he served in a rotational role over the last two years. Ford will now join a Commanders backfield that also consists of Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White.
